Rear differential?
So it's official, my rear diff on the 63 is shot. This was due to sheer overlook when the car was serviced. I noticed a weird whirring noise one day last week and took it over to Butler Tire, thinking, hey may be the wheel bearing. Nope, on the lift, I could clearly hear the angry animals in the rear diff. To boot, it had been clearly leaking on the driver's side.
At this point, I knew it. The rear diff was gone, I shed two tears and took it over to Buckhead Imports, screw taking it to the dealer. Nope, they didn't notice an obvious leak (not sure how long this had been happening). No spots in the garage either. So basically a new one was the route to go, 2-3 days downtime. Only 70K on a diff. DAMN.
This could have all been avoided if someone looked at the diff, noticed it was leaking, and did the seals and service on it, and would have been much cheaper than the 3K.
