Hello all I posted this on the new member section as well but wanted to post here in the w219 forum as well. I am venturing into the Mercedes-Benz world for the first time as I regretably inherited my late father's 06' CLS55 AMG Designo Edition. I have been a Porsche water cooled (944 series) owner for 17 years and a Jaguar X-type Sport owner for 7 years. The members over on Jaguarforums and Rennlist (Porsche) have been always awesome!
I am a very big DIY guy so I will look forward to obtaining and sharing info as I go along.
Right now the CLS 55 AMG has just shy of 42k miles and I am looking to do an auto transmission fluid change, supercharger oil change, drive belt and supercharger belt change along with a heat exchanger coolant pump upgrade and split cooling kit. Would love some different exhaust and a super charger pulley upgrade in the future as the car I feel needs some more snarl and who doesn't love more power. Overall I am very happy with car and amazed at the amenities and brutal power it offers for being 11 years old. My late father really wanted a Designo grey metallic color and the piano black interior accents vs the wood. Does anyone know how many Designo Edition CLS 55 AMG cars were made in 2006? I live in SE Wisconsin and looking forward to getting to know my fellow MB enthusiasts. Thank you!
Amazing this is the best Color/Combo Option CLS that you could buy, I saw maybe 3-4 for sale in the last 2 years, so there is def only a handful of them out there

Hi Andre thank you very much and I appreciate the info on similar cars as well.
Hi Kyle thank you, I had just bought a Pensotin trans fluid kit for the 5spd auto in the CLS 55 here recently...Great information, prices, plus selection!
Your dad had class. Nice ride. The cls55 has the same drive train as the more common e55, so there are a lot of options for parts. There is a common maintenance sticky tread in the e55 forum that is very helpful. Check your transmission plug. They can leak and fluid wicks up the wires and ruins the TCU. You are also probably going to need motor mounts soon. Get the more expensive ones with 8's in the part #. Pelican Parts carries them.

Thank you very much for the info. I did already pickup the trans wire plug just in case and will change out since I will have the fluid out anyway. Are the motor mounts a big pain to change?
Thank you for the to on those with the 8's in part number.
My dad was very classy guy I appreciate the kind words! He also had a 04' Porsche 911 40th Anniversary Ed that I am wrapping up a sale on. Beautiful car too!
Great thank you for to tip on 16mm ratcheting wrench...I have a metric set of those. Yep the 911 has been my fav too since about 10. Always loved the 964 turbo from early 90s and the 993twinturbo from mid to late 90s. Their not as powerful as today's but their lines are gorgeous and they exude character. Do the motor mounts with the number 8 in them have a higher durometer factor for being stiffer? Thank you.
All the part # fit, the ones with the 8's in the part # are for an amg and last more than two weeks. (Don't ask me how I know) The rubber is just a casing, they're hydraulic inside. Nothing on a MB is simple or strait forward.
