Price: ~$115,700?

"The CLS 55 AMG will be priced at 96,164 euros ex works", this per a European release. Has anyone heard a formal US estimate yet?
What will set the CLS apart from the E other than the sheetmetal?

that would include the VAT tax in Germany which is some 16% i think. So it shouldnt be that much. Around 84K euro which is 104K USD.

Which only goes to show how Australia, along with Norway, is determinedly anti-car. This car is based on the E-Class, so I would expect prices to be comparable to it. CLS55 = E55, more or less.

By the time the CLS55 comes out, won't the prices of a used S55( either '04 or '03) be cheaper than the CLS? Would someone get the CLS over the S-Class simply because it's new model?

For the US at least, the price can't be translated into Dollars as AMG's over the last years have sold below the Euro pricing. Example is the SL55 which costs 20% more in Germany than the US. Given that US market is too large, MB can't re-capture the foreign exchange rate loss here and usually re-prices smaller markets (some parts of Europe and Asia). US pricing will be around probably $85k-87k base.

Well, you may not view it as a coupe, but the manufacturer does.

LOL Their hopes and dreams aside, it's not a coupe as defined by just about every english dictionary. I guess I can go call my CLK a "two-door sedan."
