Power Steering Reservoir DIY

Does your M156 or CLS 63 AMG have a power steering noise and no leaks?
This DIY may be for you.

The power steering reservoirs on the M156 engines is considered a service or maintenance item and should replaced based off your owners manual.

I started getting a power steering noise, but was not loosing fluid and was not getting any more than normal resistance in the steering wheel feel.
After researching I found I may be able to replace just the reservoir as the filter inside the reservoir can become dirty or clogged.

I lucked out and it turned out to only be the reservoir, your vehicle may need an actual pump, but this is cheaper and easier than the alternative-replacing the pump.
Here is a video of my DIY from my channel:

Tools needed:
Pliers
Flat head screw driver and pocket screw driver
T30 socket
8mm
Extensions and ratchets
Procedure:
1.Safely lift and support the front of the vehicle
2.Remove the 8mm bolts for the under tray, belly pan, or what ever your familiar term is for those
-I do this so to help keep the floor clean and easier if locate tools or hardware that may fall down
3.Carefully lift and remove engine beauty cover and both air snorkels
4.Remove and set aside the large and small hoses used for secondary air-all that blocks the reservoir
5.Remove the hose clamps securing the top power steering hose to the reservoir, they may become damaged, be sure you have a supplemental hose
6.You can then left and wiggle free the reservoir
7.Remove the larger power steering hose clamp and pull out the old pump
8. Clean area and reinstall in reverse
Bleeding:
Fill reservoir with recommended fluid in the owners manual, turn wheels lock to lock or left to right several times and recheck fluid level.
Start engine and immediately check fluid level and check for leaks
If no leaks, with engine on, continue to turn steering wheel left and right to bleed any air from system.

That's it, you're all finished!
