Replaced the headlight switch cover with an hard plastic Aliexpress version. Fitment is 99%, only the headlight jets button doesnt sit flush anymore, but I can live with that. The scratched up surface bothered me

Also decided yesterday to wash the CLS, even though it was raining for a bit. When I showed my girlfriend these pictures she said: "I dont see any difference?"
So after +15 years relationship, it seems I am single again

I did not, but all the things you mention are on my todo list
Also add:
- Coolant temp sensor
- MAP sensor
- Coil packs (I already did those)
And many things more

temperature
[QUOTE=nd-photo.nl;8716362]And finally used my Dragy for the first time. And with some nice result, my 100-200km/u went down from 9.7 to 9.3 seconds there is still much room for improvement, I still have to mount the upgrade intercooler.

Correct, also if you look at my original post, the first measurement was done with 2 people with RON95. All in all not great to begin with. But even with such conditions, the CLS put down the power. The 9.3 is more in line with stock E55/CLS55, so its a good baseline/starting point for my car.

Found some new logos for the hood/bonnet. AMG Affalterbach in red/black - matte black & silver/black. Right now I have the red/black version stuck on my hood. Subtle difference which I like
The original logo we all know

Was testing a new gadget, a GPS speedometer (left in the image). I tested it against the dragy and it was off with +5km/u. I corrected this in the unit, so I have an extra speedo input now Updates/screen refreshes are pretty much realtime!

I know a lot about the GPS discrepancy from the cycling world where I would get wild speed values on my GPS bike computers. It has a lot to do with connecting to a satellite, update frequency, and the path that the satellite and app thinks that you are on.
edit: I'm trying to say that the speed from the speedometer is always highly precise, while possibly being slightly (and consistently) inaccurate. Whereas the speed from GPS cannot be relied upon to be precise or accurate due to how it works. When GPS works, it's great. When it's off, it's frustrating.

I know this picture, saw it not too long ago (cant remember in what context).
I have the correct tire sizes so I should be fine in that regard. But I wont rely on it as the sole truth, I still treat it as a gadget and some extra input. In the Netherlands, they scaled down the max speed on the highway a while ago. From 130km/u to 100km/u (80 > 60mph) during the day, and only in the evening you can drive 130km/u (80mph) again. My right foot disagrees with that , so whenever I drive on the highway I have a police spotter app open (community based input, its legal) and keep my eyes wide open
But I will be investing in a Target Blue Eye in the near future
Thanks for the input @CQHall !

Swapped all 4 tires yesterday as they were almost shot.
Unfortunately, the mechanic showed me one of my wheels had a small bump in it. I knew straightaway it had to do with the kerb I touched not too long ago when someone occupied more than half the road and I had to steer away
Swapped the Pirelli P Zero Nero (front) and Hankook S1 Evo3 (rear) with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (front) and Kumho Ecsta PS91 (rear) in the correct sizes (255/35/19 & 285/30/19). They are 2nd hand tires (both demo sets), all 4 tires had more than 7mm on them (basically new). Off course I inspected them myself before I gave the green light. Total cost, less than 500 euro inc mounting them (happy days!).
Had a small chat with the owner, seems he also has a CLS55 in silver with silver wheels
Michelin PS4S, as good as new...
Golf MK4 V6 4Motion came in for a wheel swap
Almost done

Picked up my repaired wheel again and dropped it off at a local shop to get it balanced. I will pick it up tomorrow again and then I can enjoy the CLS55 again

The rear of my repaired wheel, nothing really special to notice other than some small marks where the black paint is gone. Compared with before, my wheel has way less counterweights, so it had the right effect.
Also bought some neochrome jubilee clips, I like them

I just purchased my first MB ever, 2006 CLS55 AMG, joined this site today, and found your thread, what a holy grail of detailed information! Just WOW! I’m beginning this journey and this thread will be my bible, thank you so much for all the time and energy you have invested in doing this!
Are you self taught or a professional mechanic?
Can I send my car to you for the same overhaul? 😬

@atcfris This is exactly the reason for me to have such a thread, to document it for myself and hopefully help other people along the way. I do this with all my cars btw, see here: https://flickr.com/photos/andyramdin/albums
Forums can be so valuable! And this is also my first MB
I am a self taught home mechanic and started out with help from some mechanically inclined friends
I am always willing to help haha, if you have questions just ask away
Be sure to also check out the W211 section as the CLS shares a lot of the same components etc with the E55 W211.
And also check my Youtube channel for some videos (more will follow along the way) > https://youtube.com/ndphotonl

Bought a rubber boot mat, for extra grip and easier cleaning. Its easier to clean rubber instead of the carpet. I expected thick heavy rubber, but it was much lighter than expected
