Picked the CLS up yesterday with a brand new SBC pump and fresh brake fluid. The pump and fluid were replaced under warranty, so happy days!

Time to enjoy it again!

Replaced the cabin air filter (Mann FreciousPlus) with a Kamoka with the same specs. I have never seen a cabin air filter get "fuzzy" , must be a product characteristic

New Kamoka vs old Mann

As you can see, they do a little bit more (or at least claim to do so) than a carbon activated filter

Replaced the Exide battery with a Varta Silver Dynamic (AGM) as it seems the CLS had some issues with it...

Replaced the heavy steel skid plate with the newer (?) plastic skid plate. Off course I had to transfer the air guides

Upgrades for a small price. Replaced the high beams and fog lights (both H7) with Osram Cool Blue Intense bulbs.

Paid about €16,50 for 2 bulbs which is pretty cheap for Osram bulbs!

Before

After

I totally forgot I already fitted Nightbreakers, so those will be my new spare bulbs Left the Cool Blue and on the right the Nightbreakers

Onto the fog lights. Before (no name bulbs)

And after!

I like the slight blue hint that they give off. Off course the bulbs are far from "white" or blue for that matter, but I wasnt expecting that in the first place

On saturday I started with the upgrade intercooler. Eventually I had to drill 1 hole extra on the bracket. Also the plastic air guider needed to be trimmed. Also the 4 bolts of the crash bar where a PITA! And you need them as mounting points. Nothing a swivel piece and a wrench could not fix though

The lower grille has 2 plastic deflectors which break over time. Fixed it with some dabs of superglue

The original intercooler was in dire need of replacement, the fins were very brittle and most of them did not sit straight anymore.

The bracket holding the oil cooler in place snapped off

And after some puzzling and adjusting, it came together!

Fortunately, the fitment was about 95%. In other words, I didnt have to do alot to get the oil cooler to lineup with the bellypan. As the intercooler is bigger in every way, the bellypan makes for a snug fit now.

Also start bleeding the system on saturday (as @UncleBenz55 recommended) and I was glad to do so. On sunday I bled the system twice more for remaining trapped air.

Also rewired the pump to run on 12v ignition on and will be replacing the Bosch 010 in the future (probably next year) with the Pierburg upgrade.

Did a testrun yesterday, unfortunately I totally forgot to log some figures with the old intercooler, but nevertheless...

End result!

Pull from 0-170km/u with a max IAT 56 degrees celsius and ambient temps 23 degrees celsius. Cruising with 140km/u with IAT 39 degrees celsius (also ambient temps 23 degrees celsius)

Thanks @machild! I also got it swapped out without the need to remove the bumper. I only needed to remove the upper grill to get access to the 4x 16mm bolts (for the mounting points)

4 new Lambda sensors from Bosch. I lost the most time on getting the connectors out. I filmed some videos whilst swapping them out, will post them soon.

2x 1Liter LiquiMoly 75W140 for the rear diff. I service it already last year, but will do it again so I can hold a longer service interval for next time. Last year was probably the first time it was seviced...

New OE acceleration sensors (used by Airmatic system). One of the 2 was throwing errors, I found 2 of them on eBay (new!) for the price of 1 from local MB dealer. They sit right in front of the Airmatic strut in the engine bay (2x 8mm bolts per sensor)
