Is there any way to order different wood when you place your order for a CLS? Its hard to imagine that a $90-100K car is only available with 2 wood choices. I dont really like either choice although it wouldnt stop me from buying the car, but nonetheless, it would look so much sweeter with Black Birdseye Maple as in the E55. Or even brushed aluminum would be better. I placed my order 2 weeks ago but I just cant accept the fact that its Burl Walnut, Laural, or another car. If anyone can help, please do.

well this guy has a darker high sheen wood in his CLS350, but I doesn't look like "birdseye" maple because there isnt any "eyes" in it, but nonetheless it looks awesome. Don't know if it's available in the 55 though.https://mbworld.org/forums/cls-coupe-c219/88895-our-cls-350-since-october-5-a.html

I too, like the black birdseye maple in my E55. I don't like the other type of wood in the CLS. The CLS has so much wood that I only think the birdseye would look good.

Thats just my opinion.

I ordered the Laurel Gloss as you see in the gray interior of the pictures I posted (see thread). The picture shows that the wood is somewhat dark like the Black Birdseye Maple and not as brown as the current Burl in the e-class. They have 2 more choices (piano black and a red color wood) on the Designos in Europe when they come out.

exactly, these color choices blow. i got the cls brochure from the dealer and the laurel is the extreme light colored wood?!?! anyway, i could be wrong. how bout' the brabus carbon fibre! that looks great

My dealer faxed me a not with three interior choices: 281-charcoal, 284-Java and 288 Ash.

Anyone have more info? Particularly regarding April 2005 and Designo.

My contact at the dealer told me that the Laural is darker than the Burl Walnut which is why I ordered it. It still sucks though. I would think that with a car of this price and caliber, they would offer to install whatever wood you want let alone a wood type that they already offer on their other models. The Black Birdseye Maple is the best in my opnion not only because its sporty and I am young, but mainly because all the black electronic modules they use such as the Command Navigation, Climate Control Unit and the other unit blend in beautifully with the Black wood. These units look out of place with brown wood. They look like they are stuck in wherever they would fit, it doesnt look nearly as seamless as the E55's dash does with Black Birdseye.

Dont think you can get more than the official choices in the US. HOWEVER,, you can always get the special wood or trimming from AMG Unique Manufacturing. Bear in mind: money should not be an object to you if you go that route. There is even REAL STONE interior being offered in Germany!!

STONE interior? That'd be a nice thing to come flying off of your dash if the passenger needed his airbag. Ouch!
