2006 CLS 55
Unhappy No Tire Monitoring

I have just learned that the CLS 55 will not, at least for the 2006 year model, offer the tire pressure monitoring system that is currently available on the E 55. This is too bad, as I own a 2004 E 55 thusly equipped and, while it is idiosyncratic, it is actually quite useful.

In addition, the new color for the CLS -- Indium Grey (#963) -- will not be available in the United States for this year's model. That is really too bad, as this paint is really beautiful. I saw it at the Designo Showroom in Sindelfingen a few weeks ago and immediately wanted it on my new CLS 55.

What does Indium Grey look like? Grey mixed with what other color?

This is really not good news regarding the tire pressure monitoring. The US CLS mini-brochure has it listed in the "Safety" section, however it is NOT noted on the latest MBUSA CLS website under "Specs".

I believe it will have a system that will detect major air lost by noting difference in rotation.

It was an available option on the option list when I ordered the CLS55 two weeks ago. - Bob

Don't be so sure you will get it though. MBUSA pulls this trick a lot. They have you order something and then the option either changes or is changed to delayed availability and they don't tell you until delivery if at all.

The answer from MBUSA? Sorry, but our options are subject to change without notification to the customer.

As an example, the CLK55 went to just having a driver's side multicontour seat when ordering the option, but he description said both seats would come this way and the price didn't change to my knowledge. Many CLK55 owners were PO'd about this, and I don't blame them.
