CLS55 With Tint Done
Couple of pictures of the new addition. This is right after the windows were tinted. Not too dark but you can notice it. What a car! It is quite a head turner. I love the look and the lines of the car. The smaller windows are not a problem at all.
Enjoy!

Your car looks great. I will be picking up a black CLs in a few days and will be doing having tint applied.
Is the tint at 35%? And what brand did you use? Any problems with the install on the back window? Thanks

Man, you have THE stable!!!
Now, we need some Driver Impressions on the E55T and CLS55 after they are broken in.

The tint is around 32% I believe. The film is from SolarGard. The rear window is a major problem area. My tint guy is incredible (Does tint for our MB dealership) and he said it was the hardest he has done in a long time because of the third brake light. To do the window properly the rear deck must come out and that requires removal of more of the rear of the car than I realized. The final result is great but it was quite a process.
We have 2K miles on the E55 Wagon so we are through the break in period, the car is great and performs just like the E55. The steeing is a bit better than my E55 but overall the balance and performance of the car is the same. It gets more looks than my SL65. It is by far the most agressive and cool wagon out there. My wife is still trolling for her first Vette kill on her way to drop off the kids. I will be taking it to the drag stip in April with the Atlanta AMG group that is getting together.

Spyker C8, MB ML63 AMG, land rover
Just got mine delivered yesterday and I also had the black tint put on my black CLS...this car with the tint is a wildly different car than without...had it done by my MB dealer.

Simply awesome. I remember ages ago I had a bit of a rant about the CLS being pointless, but I absolutely love that car now. Very nice shots there, can we have more of your threesome please?

There is a crack in your driveway. (ha ha)
How do you decide which keys to grab???
Do you own an MB dealership?
That pic looks like it belongs on the cover of Motor Trend. Awesome, man.
What does the CLS feel like from the ****pit?

Schiznick, thank you for the specs on the tint. The tint percentage you have is perfect for my needs and clients.
I really appreciate your comments on the back window issues. I was about to go with Huper Optik and my tint intaller not having done a CLS yet here in Seattle, warned me not to use the ceramic film due to problems with ghosting and distortion when shrinking the film to fit. The installer did say that even with LLumar the window looked challenging for a one piece install.
Did your tint installer remove the rear deck, or was the dealership involved in doing this? It is a scary thought to think of a tint installer taking apart your new car. If your installer did the work, I should ship my car to him!!
Any details on the rear deck dissasembly would be much appreciated. I will be taking you comments and photos to my installer. Thanks much

Eagleeye, I will work on getting that fixed.... It must be the V12. Don't own a MB dealership although my neighbors probably think I do.
The CLS55 is a great drive. I bought it as my daily driver. It has a far more luxurious feel than the E55. The napa leather and alcantera headliner make a huge difference. I only wish it had a pano roof.
Thanks for all of the compliments. We are huge fans of our AMG cars!
KB5, I will send you a PM.

schiz,
my e55 has an alacantra headliner and napa inserts....I heard of another board member with an 04 who apparently didn't have the alacantra and the dealer installed it for him......it is supposed to be standard. Did your e55 not have alacantra?

Yes my old E55 did have Alcantera but also the Pano roof.
Our E55 wagon also has full Alcantera but if I compare the two, the interior of the CLS feels way more luxurious. I think it is a combination of the napa on the dash as well as the way the dash flows into the doors. The majority of the doors are covered in napa. Just the feel of the center console is a huge step up. The interiors are similar, especially the guages but after that they have a different feel. Even the chrome AMG door sills add an additional touch of class. I was concerned that the SL steering wheel would look out of place but it flows with the design.
