A Tough Question Regarding the Audio System

I just discovered the BOSE amp located in the trunk of the c32. I also noticed additional wires labeled sound 1 and a bunch of other conectors.

Question:
1) What are the conectors for?
2) Can I replace the Bose amp with an aftermarket amp?
3) If you install an aftermarket amp and keep the Factory radio, where should you connect the remote cable?

Does anyone have any PICS??

Since there are no speaker connections at the head unit and the BOSE runs on fibre optic then you will need to buy a custom harness that runs from your AMP and then from the AMP to the head unit.

You could also do another way .......

Modify the BOSE amp and take pre-amp BOSE signals to the new amp and hack the old harness to work with the new amp. That would retain a degree of simplicity.

I would seriously consider the design and the cost and then proceed carefully. In theory it is a hard job. In reality it is a job that can be done at a price.

You could change the speakers and install a new modified BOSE amp that feeds a signal to the hand-picked amplifiers. Clearly BOSE does not make the BEST speakers on the market. But that OEM amp is useful if you are able to tap the line level signal or just take speaker level.

I dont know how determined you are but it is a job for someone who isnt afraid to experiment with electronic specifications. So long as you respect the limits of the equipment (dont blow it up).

At least the BOSE is isolated from the head unit, so that at least means that you wont blow the NAV.

For my usage the BOSE is acceptable. I would do nothing.

I did it. (got Bose hi-fi)

I'm sorry to give tech answers to you.
The audio shop swapped all the oem speakers/amp with MB-Quart speakers & Alpine amp.
Then I knew how Bose sucks ~~~ :p

I went to a few shops on the high-end side and they almost freaked.. "sir, I don't want to mess up your sound, you have like 8 speakers including sub. I can't promise if I put in Boston Acustics, MB Quartz or Diamonds to give you a better sound."

So I just ended up putting in a Kicker L7 12" It sounds good but was just wondering.

I'd love to replace my speakers, and maybe add a couple of amps. But I have a 2005 C55, with Command / HK. What are my upgrade options?

Replacement Details

I just drove abpout 1500 miles and had to listen to the Bose and I'm fed up with it. I can't stand it anymore.

What replacement speakers did you buy and how do you replace them.

My local shops say they cannot do it at all on an M-B

Would be interested to hear the details from anyone who has fired their Bose and hired someone else.

I was just reading an ad for the new Infinity M until I got to the part about Bose Stereo. I sent them an e-mail and told them when the switch to another vendor like Lexus uses I'd finish reading the ad.
