C55 and C6 Tale

I read a post in the Vette C6 Forum today by a gentleman who was driving his C6 and could not shake the C55 that was behind him. (For the sake of disclosure, I should mention I have a C55 and C6 and am an impartial observer in this...) Anyway, I though that it was a fine compliment that the a C55 could keep up. The driver of the C6 was very complimentary of the C55.

I believe it! I raced a C5 the other night at about 3:00 a.m. on the freeway. We both guned it from about 80 mph and I pulled on the C5 right away... he didn't stand a chance. When I hit about 130, I let off the gas and gave him the opporunity to go again... he gracioulsy exited the freeway at his next exit (I'm guessing he was a little embrassed).

So answer the question that everyone was asking themselves when reading your post. . . Have you run your C55 against your C6 and, if so, what was the outcome???

I have not run my C55 against my C6 but there is no doubt that the C6 would win. I do, however, like my C55 better.

I find this hard to believe and I have driven both. With equal drivers the C6 can blow the doors off the C55. The specs on the two cars are far apart. It would appear the C55 driver was inexperienced. Don't take on a C6 unless you want to be embarassed.

i agree. i never drove the c6 before but i know its FAST. the c55 is not a slow car either, but i dont see it keeping up with a c6.

anyway, if the C-AMG can beat the C6, it will probably never be able to beat the z06 version anyway...unless you are supercharged.

The difference in 1/4 mile trap speeds between the C55 and the C6 tells the story of how far apart these two are in straight line performance. The C55 can probably stay in touch with the C6 in a situation like the one described simply because the C55 driver was willing to work closer to the edge of his car's performance envelope. Even with a supercharger, a C55 would probably have a tough time keeping up with the Z06 version of the C6. That car is said to be incredibly fast. Remember that they're gunning for the Viper with this one. That likely means 120+ MPH 1/4 mile trap speeds. Messing with those on the street should probably best be left to the 65 AMG cars.
