Question for those that have deleted their resonator

Does it sound much louder than stock? Also, does it drone at all in the cabin anymore than stock...at any RPM or load?

BTW, I don't notice any drone in the cabin with the stock setup.

Thanks in advance.

Collin

To me the sound difference is almost nada. I have also listened to my car from outside the vehicle as my friend punched it while driving past me, and the outside noise seems the same to me.

IMO, resonator deletion is a "no brainer" mod. Few more HPs, 10 less lbs., and no downside (other than the $30.00 or so to have it done).

Saves weight, I do think it made it a bit louder both inside and out of the cabin, you may perceive a slight drone immediately after removal but its more just a change in pitch of the exhaust note. No complaints after 6K miles.

A resonator is used to reduce the sound of the exhaust. Taking it out will definitely make the exhaust louder. I had it done along with the installation of the Carlsson quad exhaust. Quoting from my friends after the install: "your car's exhaust sounds as loud as a SL55..."

But who will remove the cats for me? I took my car to a shop to get the cats removed (here in San Diego) and they would not do it. Apparently, there is a California law prohibiting removal of cats. Anyone have any ideas (short of me learning how to weld)?

This is why I am going to sell my evil fossil fuel C32 and buy a commuter burro. I think that I will stuff a couple of cat converters up the ****'s ****, just in case he farts some hydrocarbons.

Deleting secondary cats should be worth some power, hopefully we should have some dynos later on this week. However, car now has a bit of "ricey" resonance that can be annoying at lower RPMs in city driving. Wide open, car does sound better.

Do most muffler shops have the pipe necessary to do the delete or do you need to order it before hand?

Thumbs down Technically, it's a violation of FEDERAL law...

...to remove the cats, whether you do it or someone else does. It's also a violation of the laws of several states -- including California -- so you possibly could be doubly-prosecuted. And most states that have emission testing actually conduct a visual inspection to ensure the cats are in place, so all in all I can't see recommending it.

just removed the resonator few days ago, my first impression was that it doesn't loud at all which is good for me. however, your exhaust tone will be much louder when under load. I had full load the other day with my family criusing on the highway at around 85mph, the exhaust tone was very very loud.
