Here is a pic of my C43 at Thunderhill Raceway at a NASA Trackday in Group 4. Lots of suspension work to keep the tires flat to the pavement. That is a Lotus Elise behind me and he is not happy because he has spent much money on mod's and just got passed by a big black Mercedes.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice... Awesome Jeff! I've been waiting to see these pics! If you name that car I like to nominate "SLEEPER" LOL

I aspire to get my car that flat!

AMGC43-
You're in NJ and I know a lot of people there who autocross and track their cars there. I am from NJ now living in MD though. This weekend I am going to Summit Point in West VA to run on their Shenandoah course.

In July there are NASA mid-atlantic events at VIR (North Course) and Summit Point (Main course I believe). REGISTRATION IS OPEN. If you'd like, we could get together and run an event. I'll help you as much as I can. I've got another C-Coupe owner joining me at Summit Point this weekend. We could actually start to get a MB showing going at these events.

You sign up, get a brake pads, a helmet, gloves and shoes, I can provide the trackside support with racing jack, stands, tools, etc.

You guys make me so jealous. I wish I had the know-how to get into track racing, not to mention the $$$$. I mean I can get gloves, helmet, shoes, and brake pads, but ask me to change brake pads and i'm like:

One of those AMG Hammers would be so much fun !!!
I would love to race one of those or else I'd have to buy another Coupé just for tracking.
I've dumped too much $$$$ on my current AMG Coupé just on looky-loo aesthetic mods, so it's only good for the street.

I appreciate the invite. I wouldn't mind coming down and enjoy an afternoon of watching that kind of racing. As far as my C43 - the only racing I do with it is on the "Black Dragon" (NJ Turnpike ) and on I-295.Keep in touch ( PM ) and give me some dates and locations and I'll come down and hook-up with you.

Carlos- There is no harm in doing it just once with a street car.

speedy

looks great!

Do you have any plans to go to the big track at willow any time soon? if so let me or SMGC32 know and we would love to come chase you around the track. We just got back fromt the track two weeks ago and it looks like we have an issue with our stoptechs but we will get that all worked out. We need to get a track day set to get SMG back at it again since his BMW E36 needs a bit of work before we can beat on it safely once again.

PM me any possible Cali track days you plan to attend.

I would love to get down to the Big Track at Willow Springs. I think all my chassis work would really shine down there with the long high speed corners. I sure would like to see if I could turn a 1min:30sec lap time. I think it would be possible with my current setup.

Do any of the tire suppliers go to these events so that you can buy good R-dot rubber down there?

well i would love to see it. a friend as a track ***** B5 S4 making some serious power and he managed to get a 1:32. If your car can get a 1:30 I will "bow down" to the benz that is great than mine.

Keep us posted if you plan to come down and we will register! When is the next NASA day at the big track?

Very nice, what size tires do you have on the C43?

As for tire sizes I run a 275/40/17 rear on a 17"x9.5" rim and on the front I run a 255/40/17 also on a 17"x9.5" rim.

The front fenders have been widened some.

Thanks for the nice comments from the other members, makes all the hard work a little more worth it.

Say Jeff,

Why the tape on the headlights? I saw that on the picture of someone else's W202 from RENN 208 too. Is that to protect against stones breaking them or something else?

(P.S. it's me, steve from Eatons Neck. I had my handle changed to c55m8o here. I asked for that to get done on club202 and bnzsport through the Admin account, but it didn't happen and no response. Can you recommend who I can contact/beg to get it done there?
All the best,
Steve)

Hey Steve,

Yes the tape is to help keep the headlights from breaking and spreading the glass on the track.
