I'm in the market to buy a c55 in about 6 months. I was looking at a c32..but by them discontining them dont know if I wanna get one .I luv the c55...alittle out of my price range tho. Around Dec...or first of the year, is there anyway to guage about how much used ones will be going for?

Not accurately, but I'd venture to say you'll be able to pick one up for about 48k and if you can find a distressed sale, maybe 46k.Originally Posted by nlacey

I am also looking to buy one in the next couple of months. I believe that once the 2006's come out, you'll see a slight drop in price of the 2005 models, maybe $2000-$3000 (maybe even more than that, it depends if the 2006 gets any revisions or increased HP). There are rumors circulating that the 2006 will have 390 horse power, if that's the case, 2005 models will become significantly cheaper.
Currently these cars seem to be selling for app. $48-$52K. Theres one on E-Bay with 1500 miles and NAV with a buy-it-now of $51K.
Predicated on the current values, I think you should be able to buy a low mileage car (<5000 miles) in December for app. $45-$47, but it really is contingent on what AMG GmbH does/has done to the 2006 models.
Good luck on your search/purchase

In Canada, there will be no change in the output of the 5.4L V8 for the C55 and SLK55 AMG for the 2006 model year. I assume this will be the case for the rest of the world as well.

The "Price" will drop, so just be ready to grab a good deal.
When I got lucky and found my C32, I saved 8-10K from a private
owner

At 46-49k the initial depreciation has already set in. Are you suggesting that it will drop an additional 8k in 5 months time?Originally Posted by Childish///AMG

The C55 is gone after 2006. I don't think it would be wise to get one when there will be a new model replacing it.Originally Posted by PC Valkyrie

I may be in the market for an E55, so my C55 may be up for sale. 3800 mi on the clock now. Have a nice set of AMG 17" Winter wheels to go with it. All of this is up in the air and dependent on what the 'boss' says.Originally Posted by nlacey

Note: I have owned numerous BMW 3 and 5 series. I think the E-class (more like the 5-series) would suit us better at this stage of our lives. I'm a 50-something non-smoker who babies his cars FYI.

I just got wholesale bids on my brilliant silver 2005 C55 with 4700 miles and the bids ranged from a low of $40k to a high of $43.5K. I would think that you could easily pick up one in the $45K range by year-end with mileage under 10k. This was in the Chicagoland area. I also know dealers in this market that will sell a new one for invoice (which is what I paid for mine). For informational purposes, market-up is about 7%.
well thats almost a mute point. If I can't afford/dont wanna spend the money on a new c55...I doubt whatever they replace it with is gonna be in my price range either. Whatever they replace it with...do you think it will be thats drastic of a change?

well... I don't think the C55 sold nearly as well as the C32..... and it's a one year wonder, 2005 only.... 2006 will be a C6x, and have close to 400HP.... hold off for the new one, or get killed with depreciation....
the leasing manager at the MB dealer showed me a lease special to move the remaining C55's.... something like $750/month, 39 months, 58k sticker.... with not too much due at signing.... seemed like a good deal considering a month before I couldn't get one for less than $900/month....

So, the 2006 model then would probably be released this winter correct? so in 5/6 months the c55 should easily drop $3,000-$4,000 with the release of the new modelOriginally Posted by Fikse

to a private owner vs. a dealership. I do think that the price will drop
perhaps 4-5k.
