VERY BIG UPDATE!

Well everyone, Great news! This is finally confirmed and we are ready to start building the carbon fiber hoods with vents that everyone has been patiently waiting for. We are now accepting the deposits. Once we get all deposits we will start the hood process. It will take about approx. 8-12 weeks to make. This is a first come first serve basis. We are making hood for other cars and the CF guys are real busy. So the first 6-8 hoods will me made first. Then the rest will be made after that. So if you would like to get this sooner then some of the other people. I will let the first batch go the people that I receive the orders from first. The price of the hood for the C55/W209 CLK is $790 for black carbon fiber with vents. Silver carbon fiber with vents is an additional $99. A $550 non refundable deposit is required from everyone to start the building process. Once the hoods are made you will be charged the remainder of the cost of the hood you choose. A flat rate shipping cost of $129 will also be charged at that time. That shipping cost only applies to any of the US lower 48 states. We can ship these internationally. Shipping will of course go up.

And do u know how much is it to ship to Taiwan?
I have a C55 owner in a Taiwanese MB fan site who's also interested in the CF hood so need to check out more information for him.

 

What's going on with this group buy? Any buyers? I just read the e55 board and they are up to 12 orders.

 

Josh, counting you, there are only 6 for this hood as of yet.

 

We can do a non vented CF hood, but it will require 2 molds to be made, vented an non vented. I would make a new mold if 5 people were interested in a non vented hood.

Also, about shipping to Taiwan, i would have to check to be sure, but i would say maybe about $400-$550.

I can't decide if I want silver or black though, thoughts? I'm getting the black HRE 441r, so maybe a black CF hood is the way to go? Anyone care to chime in on what would look better?

Well, after much consideration, and even though the job can get done. I have came to the conclusion I will not offer a vented carbon fiber hood at this time. I have just been getting countless emails from people that are just worried about water issues, and a lot of designs on the vents, such as style and placement. This was going to look EXACTLY like a Brabus hood on in CF, but people still would like to see what it would look like. I am sure if I told you it was Brabus most people would think it actually was. The issue of vents is just not making me to comfortable.

I like people to feel comfortable when purchasing, yet it seems people are worried what the vents will look like. Like I said it would be an IDENTICAL replica of the Brabus hood in carbon fiber. I will not take the risk of having customers feel worried on what the final product will look like, or what affect it will have on the engine with water issues. (with vents). I would have loved to make a hood to show everyone what they look like before taking orders, but after all, I am running a business, and the amount of money I would need to spend to get it done without having pre paid orders will just kill me.

If I knew I would have great return on the hood such as 30+ orders I would have made hoods in advance. But since I am working with Mercedes and not a Honda here, I know the market is just to small and there are only a select few people out there interested in a carbon fiber hood with vents for a E-Class Mercedes. I wanted to get this done as much as everyone else, after all I am pretty much a salesmen, so I would have loved to sell these hoods to you yesterday, but I will not risk having un happy customers if water was an issue or if people didn't like the design of the Brabus vents in person.

I never had one un happy customer, and I do not want the risk of having 15. So again as much as I hate saying this, the vented CF hood is not longer an option. I will be sending all 13 people who gave a deposit an email in the next day or so. What I can do is an OEM hood in carbon fiber like I originally wanted. But I don't think there will be enough interest. To me the OEM hood in CF is the safest way to go. I thought that would appeal to many more people then a vented hood also, but I guess I was proven wrong. All the people who have left a deposit have not been charged a cent and will not be charged.

If anyone is interested in the OEM hood in CF, then we can start that, but otherwise the idea for carbon fiber hoods for the E-class is be scrapped.

 

Are you still going to do the non-vented hoods for us? I want the hood either way... vented or non-vented.

 

With 15 orders yes. It was only the first 6 that get delivered first. Still need 15 confirmed orders to make the 6.

Unfortunately there was just not enough interest in the hood with no vents. I tried it, got nothing, people wanted vents, was going to do vents, and people go worried.

So this idea has no been canceled. I have sent an email explaining it better.

That is correct. We will only offer the vented hood. If it doesn't go threw, well, atleast i tried! :p
