Well, I finally organized this. Below are details.

For the C55 Carbon Fiber hood to be made we are looking at around 20 orders to get this done. Once we have 20 confirmed orders we will then buy a factory C55 hood and use it as the mold. The hoods will then we ready in about 6 weeks. Possibly less. We are going to offer silver carbon fiber as well as black carbon fiber. The hoods will be a true OEM quality hood. The weight will be less then half of the stock hood. You can either paint these hoods to match your car, leave them carbon fiber, or do some sort of custom paint job on them. The hood will use all the stock mounting hardware from your stock hood to install. The black carbon fiber hood is $699 and silver carbon fiber will be $99 more. Again, we are looking for about 20 orders. Currently I have 2 confirmed orders. If it gets to about 15 hoods total, I will just bite the bullet and purchase the other 5 to get this done.

Now, I am making this a VERY organized group buy. For people that are interested in participating in the group buy, below is a link to check out. You will need to enter all your payment details as well as shipping info just like you are purchasing the hood. We need a $450 deposit to get the hoods ordered and the remanning amount will be charged once the hoods are completed and about to be shipped. NO ONE IS GETTING CHARGED the $450 deposit unless we get to at least 15 confirmed orders. So even though your orders are submitted, again, no one is charged unless we hit 15 orders or more. Once we hit that, you will all be charged the $450 and the manufacturing will then begin on the hoods. Shipping is a flat rate of $129 anywhere in the lower 48 states. Even if you decide to purchase the hood and check out and leave your info for the deposit, you can still backout on this up until we have 15 orders or more. If we have 15 orders or more, you cannot get a refund.

I am posting this in the CLK55 forum and the W209 CLK forum since the hoods are the same. Even the same factory part #. So if you know anyone with a CLK that is interested, be sure to let them know.

I think its a fair price as well. After all, the market for a carbon fiber hood for a mercedes is always going to be small.

I can offer the exact same deal on a carbon fiber hood for a W211 E55, but i doubt there is going to be much interest? what do you think?

 

can you check how much extra to ship a hood to Hong Kong

 

oh boy, hong kong is far! lol. I can check for sure, but i would say it can be about $300-400 just to ship. Its a HUGE package as you must know. Maybe it will be a bit less, but i will see what i can do to check on that.

 

A couple months ago we were all begging to organize this group buy and the interest list was huge, what happened? Are you guys still interested? Let's make this happen.

 

Yes, this is true. I got so many PM's for people dying for a CF hood for the C55. And now somehow they all disappeared. :p The funny part about this is the E55 guys are more interested and we already have 8 people that want a CF hood over there. So the way it looks is the E55 guys will get this done before the C55/CLK guys. Thats if we even do it at all for the C55. But this thread is still new. Give it a week or 2 and we will see how many more people are interested.

My front bumper is the Brabus K8 bumper like the one with the vented hood in the pics I linked, but that's hopefully going to change sometime soon if things line up right.

Damn, I would def be down for a vented hood...Any chance of maybe getting a grey shade rather then a black or silver, i know options complicate things but the vented hood looks AMazing!

 

With that style vented hood, but you have to worry about rain/water getting into the engine bay?

 

Ok guys, i have some pretty good news for everyone. It appears that we are probably able to do those Brabus style vents on the CF hood!!! Nothing will be finalized till probably the end of the week. At that time we should be able to have an exact price on the hood. It should only be able 85-100 for the hood with vents.

I will keep everyone updated right when i get some more info. I am actually getting pretty excited, i think i a black CF hood with vents will be pretty nice on my C55.

 

It should not be an issue. The vents are behind the intakes. So even in a very heavy rain no water will get close. Even if the car is parked no water can just sit in the intake. People dont realize, but alot of rain gets threw the front grill to the intakes in a heavy rain when you are on the highway. The grill is not to restrictive at all.

 

Now that I have the supercharger (should get my car back late next week), I'm considering the vented hood as well. With it being so hot in Vegas, it should definitely help in cooling the engine bay.

I was thinking of possibly only doing the vented hood since there is so much interest. But i will let you know in a day or so, when i get final prices from my guy on the vented hood if we will offer the OEM hood in carbon fiber with no vents.
