for $80k no one in there right mind (imo) would spend that on an AUDI, or would ya'll?
hey you are definetly right according to the link you sent me.

however, I've just read the latest Car & Driver last night at Barnes and Noble. According to this, it says the Audi RS4 will go for 75,000 Euros which converts to 85,000 US dollars, but Audi will price the RS4 at est. 80,000 Dollars for US market. that is what it says in the C&D.

your question brings this thread into focus because that was what i wanted to mention to all of you. the article reads that RS4 is the winner in this test because it does everything well. However from what the review says, C55 and M3 is damn close (in fact in some areas they are superior than RS4; M3's handling / C55's ride quality) So... against a $80,000 car, not bad C55!

don't believe what the dealers tell you especially news from many months ago. they know as much as you do if not less.

Exactly, dealers don't know jack! In fact, like you said, they know less. Reason being, they are only supposed to know what is current and what they can sell now. It's all about today in the world of cars sales.

there is no way the RS4 will cost $80k over here in the US.... has to be around $50k..... no one buys the RS6 for $80k!

I read the article, all of the perfomance numbers are from different tests.... so they don't mean much..... nice to see the C55 pull 108MPH though...

What month is the issue? I just picked up the August issue at the airport today and it did not have this review. Also nothing on the website for Car and Driver. I remember a M3 vs. C55 vs. RS4, & M5 vs. E55 vs. RS6 issue a couple months ago. Not sure if it was Car and Driver though. Audi won both comparisons.

70k is almost the price of the the rs6. donno if 70k for the rs4 is gonna be right.

besides, rs4 and c55 in britain both cost 49£...or roughly US$ 70k. i don't think the pricing of 70k here is right.

look back an issue or two, there was a test drive of the rs4, and was predicted at 50k ish

Its been around for a while discussion about the RS4 price would be ...and it would be around $75-$80K.

The price without adoubt will distinguish RS4 apart from S4 crowd, so does the car performance and exterior wise.

If RS4 for $50K , who do you think in the right mind will buy S4 for $55K or the same price ..???

Then again only time will tell what the actuall RS4 price would be.
I have a feeling it would be somewhere on $70K range, as the new RS6 is rumored to be around $90K price range.

FYI RS6 only sold in the US for 2003 only.

And S6 also been around.

Please do some research about it. Its not on Audi USA website anymore, because they haven't release the S6 and RS6 for the new model (most current).

Judging by your comment here, I am assuming you know little/diddly quat about Audi A4 or their performance.

Obviously there are always hardcore enthusiast that want the high performance car regardless it is compact chassis A4, or Full size chassis A6

The same can be said for Mercedes
Put it this way, why people by $60K entry level mercedes (C55) while you can buy C230K with AMG package for $30K
.... I am sure you will just stir up pointless debate...by doing this

Audi is little different, they always have 2 level of performance S line and RS line. (do your search).

I am a car enthusiast
As much as I love mercedes, I also give credit or applause to other car when its due. I am open minded

yeah... I gotta believe the RS4 will go for low to mid 70's. That price of 55k in Car an driver is a typo. thats the price of an S4. The RS4 is so different from the S4. different front end, skirts, rear end, flared wheel wells. also different motor, tranny, DSC, brakes, wheels, interior and limited build numbers.

and we are all fooling ourselves if we think Mercedes wont build a C63. if may not have 500+ hp, but Im sure it will be in the 400 range. Mercedes could care less about marketing suicide. they have the C55 for 50+k, and they have the CLK55 for 75+K. Basically the same car. but 25k more a two-door. The new M3 will have 400+. So the new W204 will be around that range too.

i like what you said in your 2nd paragraph, but i believe the S4s MSRP starts at 50k and loaded slightly under $60k... which in fact would have to make the RS4 more expensive obviously... but guys c'mon 80k or even 70k for an AUDI that does 0-60 in 4.8???? (like most people have stated) why the f*** would someone spend that kinda $$ for an AUDI.. i dont care how nice/fast/ steering wheel or other BS it has/looks... its an AUDI and for a little more you can go E55 which does 0-60 in 4.5s (from MBUSA.com) and 10x more luxurious... also imagine you were AUDI, you wouldnt put it on the market for 70k cause the RS6 was i believe around 70 when that came out... so if they do or not good luck to them, but as a business man, i dont it will start at 70k, it might be after its loaded but starting im assuming will be low 60s... just my estimate on the matter/factors/market, thanks

im done with this thread!!

S4
Starting at $46,820*

my bad, if I misunderstood your intention .. :p

But then again it depend on the potential buyer, whether they can justified the extra $$$ for extra performance, styling, exclusivity....etc..

The same applies why people still buying C55, while C230K with AMG pack can be had for half the price.

When you're a fan/die hard of certain marques (sp?) brand, you will always stick with the brand, unless off course you decide to cross over...
i.e.: S4 owner switch to C55. etc..

But at the end of the day, most people that buy this performance car is because they are into it, and they have the cash $$$ to spent it.

Its a matter of personal preference IMHO.
You might be a millionnaire but that doesn't mean you're going to buy C55 if you're not enthusiast.

And most of us who own high performance car model such AMG, M, S or RS not necessarily millionnaire either.

Simply because we love these cars, and we could afford it.

By Scanning over some of the above responses, it seems that a lot of you don’t know what Audisport RS technology cars are all about. I’ve driven the RS6 as well as the E39 M5 and current E55 AMG. After taking that RS6 on a spirited test drive, I thought that RS tech. cars should be worshipped by the guys at BMW Motorsport and AMG. I completely forgot that I was driving something with a back seat, let alone 4 doors. Turn after turn, that thing never lost its composure and felt like it weighed a thousand pounds less. Audi is competing with AMG, BMW Motorsport, Cadillac V-series, Chrysler SRT, and Jag R-series with their S4, upcoming S6 and S8 cars. In my opinion the RS technology cars are on a different plane altogether and are justifiably priced. It’s just too bad that the RS6 is probably the most underappreciated sports sedan on the planet, which is why they can’t fetch their steep asking price. RS tech cars are very serious machines that command respect.... Don't bother arguing against me until you've taken one on a serious test drive...
Eric...

ps The LeMans dominating Audi R8 cars ROCK!

Ekaru, don't get so hostile, its an MB board. Its generally accepted that Audi makes a great car, but you cannot argue with the outrageous price of the RS4 and the lack of perfomance to back it up. Who would buy the RS4 when a well driven C55 can nearly equal its performance. Although the RS6 did win comparos agianst the E55, it was not a run away and in fact the AMG car was quicker. That said the RS6 was more epensive as well. I would have to hit the pipe pretty hard to write a check for an RS4 when the upcoming 07' c-class AMG and E90 M3 will certainly match it if not beat it.

Sorry for not addressing the issue.... The RS4 will not be $80K... There's just no way Audi of North America would allow that and C&D should realize this... Now they have to deal with the flood of letters to the editor on why the RS4 costs so much more than the other two cars... Audi of North America will probably price the RS4 around $70K...

Regardz,
He's right. The out the door price for a loaded RS6 came to about $100K out the door. They sold every one and every dealer had to buy $10K in tools to be able to service them. These cars are extremely hot and have not suffered the deppreciation of the E55 AMGs of late.

i'd take an AMG (really 6.2 liters) 6.3l - V8 with 7-speed... "SEE 63", anyday

and i'd even take the E90 M3 over it too,
