Urgent: 18" wheel tire size for front
Guys,
I have a wheel and tire package picked out for my C32 and I am trying to go with 235 40 18 tires and they state that the recommended size I should run is 225 40 18.
the issue is fronts rubbing and they won't guarantee fitment. 10mm diff
Any thoughts? I am trying to get as much rubber on these rims (18x8.5) as I can.
anybody run into rubbing problems on the front with a C32.
any help would be greatly appreciated as I want to order them ASAP

I don't have an AMG but I have 18x8.5 fronts and I run 225/40/18. But I have custom made wheels which is why it doesn't rub at all. But the tire size seems fine to me. I have 18x9.5 255/35/18 in the rear by the way

thanks for the replies....I am going to test fit one rim on the front...if it works, then I will have them send the other 3.

You have two issues at hand. Offset and inside spoke to mounting pad dimension. If the spoke clearance is not large enough to clear the front brake caliper, than a 215mm front tire won't help. Are you most concerned with rubbing the strut tub, the outer fender lip, or the caliper? A ET32 in an 8.5" wheel is the most centered offset you can get. A ET30mm is about as far as you want to go towards the outside, and an ET35mm is about as far as you want to go towards the inside. If the wheels won't clear the caliper, but a 3-5mm max spacer will cure the problem, you are within the range of offset numbers for the wheel to work. It also depends on how low the car sits. In stock ride height form, you should not have a problem. Lower the car about 2" in front and the 235 tire with a 3-5mm spacer will probably produce a cut in the sidewall caused by the fender lip inside edge. It also depends on the tire you are going to put on the car and the shape of its sidewall. A Goodyear GSD3 rim bead protector and side wall stick out 3mm farther than an equivalent sized Rosso, Toyo, or Dunlop. Let us know how everything fits.

smgC32,
excellent post...this is the info I was looking for. thanks
I have a 3mm and 5mm spacer (and lugs) coming with ONE wheel/tire setup (all are 18x8.5 anyway) to test fit on the front and rear. I really hope the setup works as the wheel looks very nice and the entire package was very affordable.
I will definitely let you know how it goes.
