3years, any ODPS/engine failures?

It's been about 3years, since the Evosport ODPS kit came out, are there any reported Evosport ODPS/engine failures? If we have not had any yet, then the setup must be somewhat reliable.

I have been thinking about it for awhile and have been considering which is the most reliable, Renntech, Evosport or ASP? They all seem to have some drawbacks. The Evo's probably have the performance edge, but may not be as stealthy as the ASP or Renntech?

So does anyone have some opinions on this, now that there is some history
on these pulleys ?

Good question. I too am curious as I'm considering them for my first major upgrade.

One of my accessory pulleys that was supplied with the ODPS kit failed, Evosport replaced it without any questions asked.

I think it was my tensioner pulley as well, mine was one of the very first kit that was produced.

idler spins pretty fast (small)

Sounds like the Evo pulleys have been relatively reliable. The crank pulley
would be a costly problem, if it was not reliable.

The idler spins pretty fast (small diameter). On other cars, the idler/tensioner is generally the weakest link. Proper tension on the idler is pretty important, especially for tracking tension/slack for acceleration & deceleration. If it is not responsive enough, one could throw a belt.

So did the bearings on the idler get ratty or was it the pulley surface?

Believe it was the bearings as the car was making a funny "zaspy" noise at idle.

My idler tensioner went bad also. The difference for me is that the MB dealer replaced it for me. I then drove to Evosport to have Vadim check it out whether any of the ODPS components have been tampered with...it checked out ok. The tensioner pulley was making rattling noise (per dealer, I personally did not notice it). Had the kit for 2 years, 16000miles, thankfully no ODPS related issue except for the idler.

Someone reported a front crank seal going out without any definitive proof that it was caused by the EVO kit.

85,000 miles and counting.

Very first kits had weak bearing in small tensioner. All new kits have upgraded bearing.

Vadim,

Speaking of upgraded items in the ODPS kit, I would like to replace my window washer fluid tank to the updated layout where the lower hose goes into the side of the tank as opposed to the bottom of the tank. Although I am careful when parking the car, once in a while the some parking stops are high enough and comes in contact with the lower fitting and hose coming out from the tank (not to mention the visual "ques" a dealer tech would find when they inspect underneath the car). I believe that the updated layout does not involve trimming of the bottom engine bay cover and therefore is more discrete?

I was the one who reported the front crank seal going out. The master tech at the dealer says it's the design of the pulley (that it lacks a dampener) and Evo says that the dealer is wrong. Unfortunately the thread that discusses this dampener issue was deleted by Evo, so you won't be able to read through it. Thanks to all who provided their insight in that thread, especially MarcusF who gave a very informative professional opinion.

Since then, I noticed a thread regarding the latest pulley under development by Evo:https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ht=m271+pulley. I find it interesting in that it includes a dampaner. That seems to substantiate the dealer's position. I have an e-mail into Evo as to whether they will be updating the design of the C32 pulley.

More to come...

idler bearing

So I guess, the idler bearing was the weakest link on the old Evo ODPS, but it is apparently fixed in the new kits?

Has any of the other brand pulley kits had any pulley failures on the C32?

Does the Evo ODPS use the stock belt or some other than stock length?

New bearing fixed tensioner noise. That was 50 kits ago.

ODPS uses stock belt.

So does this means you have sold 55 kits or over a hundred kits? How many Evo modified C32s are there?

Is Evosport going to upgrade their c32 pulley kits to include the dampener on the crank pulley?

i think it would be beneficial for users to keep on providing any update on their experiences with aftermarket pullies, since more miles have been accumulated on pullied c32s. i would appreciate any pulley users commenting on how they have been holding up so far. thanks guys
