You are right.

Check the link I provided for seeing the next auction numbers and we can find many many examples.

The best digits represent nouns are:
3 - alive , live, life
8 - fortune, get rich
The best digits with meanings represent verbs/adj. are:
1 - must, one
2 - easy
6 - always, road

So, now we can make them up easily:

18 - must get rich
28 - easy get rich
3318 - lifex2 must get rich
128 - must easy get rich
228 - easy easy fortune
2228 - easy easy easy fortune
118 - must must rich

and so on....

the most popular and welcome are:

1318 - whole life must get fortune

328 - business(32) get fortune(8)

8888 - rich rich rich rich - this is the most expensive number because means many many fortune

superstitious people ?
If they can afford half a million for a number plate , that lucky number surely works !

have a nice day.

Bad enough we drive cars that have monthly payments that could feed an entire starving village but 3 Large for a license plate just seems like a real kick in the teeth. Don't get me wrong, when I want something I get it too but damn, 3k for a license plate, feel maybe your overcompensating for something your missing?

agreed , senisble thinking, yes. changing C55 to 20" wheels will draw 'some' attentions
another view is, the C55 will draw immediate attention considering for 'MB' prefix has only 99 registration numbers have 1-digit and 2-digits. And, I can change wheels and tires any time ; but it is usually considered to be lucky to win an auction.

thanks
actually there are other special ones for the C55 which will come starting in next prefix 'MC' or so
e.g.

M C 55 --> Mercedes C55
M G 55 --> (A)MG 55
ML 55

I am also going to bid for the MB155 for my coming E90.

Nice Pictures of your car.

My neighbor in Clearwater Bay has a Mayback with number plate 6. He is the 6th son of a 6th son. He tells me it doubles the value of the car!

I thought the number 6 belongs to the Hong Kong TVB Chairman. He used to have number 6 on his Rolls Royce. He is on the top 10 richest man in Hong Kong. You must be equally rich to be his neighbour.
Yes, if the number 6 is without prefix , it can be a few million dollars worth.

Sir Run Run tired of Rolls, and bought a Bentley. He felt that was more of a drivers' car, and in his mid 90's he prefers the rear seat now. So he bought a Maybach (Silver) because it was fitted to him personally. While he does own a good deal of TVB, he is more famous worldwide for Shaw Brothers films. I once asked him what his favourite movie. He said "The one that makes money!"

He is a kind and generous man, truly a living treasure in Hong Kong.
