Exclamation Lesson Learned

Saturday I decided to spend the day perfoming my quarterly cleaning/polishing/waxing of my C55. During the process of checking out my car I noticed that the fuse for the cigarette lighter was blown so I ran to the Auto supply store to pick up a new fuse and some spares (I use the outlet all the time for phone/blackbery/iPod etc, so I figure carrying a few extra is a good idea).

Sunday I decide to go to a classic car show, and classic wooden boat show in Wiscosnisn......Sunday the weather is lousy it rains off and on all day....I decide to head back to Chicago Sunday evening and all of the sudden I realize I have a flat tire , of course I'm on a empty country road and it's pouring rain....so I pull out my spare/jack etc and proceed to change the tire and inflate the spare...... All of the sudden it hits me had I not checked the fuses on Saturday and not replaced the one that was blown I would not have been able to inflate the spare and I would have been sitting in the rain waiting for a service vehicle to come help me.

The lesson I learned is that even something simple like replacing a fuse or carrying a couple of extras can have a big impact every journey.

Don't you have extra fuses in your toolkit? I have a little bag of various fuses that came along with the car. If you don't, chalk it up to more cost savings by MB.

Good lesson learned. Imagine if you have broken down in the "Robert-Taylor" homes :p :p

there should be extra fuses the came with the car. I have them in the wheel well along with my absolutely useless air pump and fix-a-flat.

THX...I do have the extra fuses, my point was more about how something simple can effect something much larger....BTW I had to use the pump and sealer on my C32 once (huge nail in rear tire) believe it or not it actually worked quite well, as does the collapsible spare in the C55.

I hear ya.

but the one time I used my air pump it didn't work very well. maybe it's because i didn't use the fix-a-flat thing.
