Anyone surprised when you tell 'em "it's a V8"?

Autocar C32 1/4 mile 13.4 107
30-50 1.5
50-70 2.4
Car and Driver C55 1/4 mile 13.3 108
30-50 2.5
50-70 3.2
I know the c55 will be faster outright but the c32 will kick it in gear on the road.
I drove the new M5 and it felt gutless below 5000 - it was very quick when you wound it up though but seemed to get caught out low down.
Still would like one though (c55)

Another reason why I don't look at the hp #'s by MB/AMG is because when you put the new E55 on the dyno rated at 463 crank, the whp is exactly the same as the 493 hp cars as posted in many many threads in the forum. All of the v8's are basically the same, with some perhaps tuned better than others(A/F).
The V6 is basically the same motor ,less two cylinders but don't quote me on that. I'm just wondering why this poster wants to compare a S/C V6 C32 to a normally aspirated M113 v8 and make claims as to the V6 being the better motor. I wonder if he realized that MB/AMG has Supercharged the same 24valve M113 5.5L V8 and got more than 400hp crank.

the simple fact is that the c32 will out accelerate the c55 below 100, modifying the c55 to supercharge it is irrelevant. I`m sure that s/charging the v8 is a very good idea I would love to have a c55 with 500 hp.

I think the C32 and C55 are pretty even, with a slight edge going to the C55 in outright acceleration. Handling wise, the C55 probably has a advantage over the C32 (looking at the g levels and track times at the "ring".) Because of that, it also has a harsher ride than the C32.
Edit: found the Car and Driver test times for North American spec cars:
C55/C32
0-60: 4.7/5.2
1/4 mile: 13.3/13.6
5-60: 4.9/5.8
skidpad: 0.86g/0.81g
Lap times for Nordschleife
C55/C32
8.22/8.37
Lap times for Hockenheim
C55/C32
1.18,6/1.20,6

Are those two responses the best you can come up with? Take the supercharger off the V6 and see how much instant acceleration you have compared to the 5.5L V8.
