C32 vs Suburu STI from a roll

let's get the basics down to validate the run.

About 10:45 pm On (Hwy 71) near the 91 Fwy interchange. The highway is a nice flat 2 lane each direction and I was heading north.

I just flew in from a business trip at Concord Ca and I really missed my car since I had a crappy Chevy Malibu for the last 4 days. I also had a few beer before I boarded and the red bull did not help. I have been and still thinking of selling my C32 for a E55 since I see other cars matching C32's straighline performance bang for the buck. (300C, Charger, MagnumSRT8, Mustang GT, GTO, STI, EVO)

I was on the slow lane when I saw some xenon lights (look a bit fake) really close to my *** for no reason. I let the car go by.

I though it was X-mas. A white STI just tried to push me out!

I always run my car in 4th and always ESP off. I was not running A/C since it was a cool 75 degrees.

As I let him go by, I shift to 3rd and change to the left lane behind him. So figured what the heck.... time of truth.

He is running about 80 and I'm 2 cars behind. We pass a slower car on the right lane and now we have 4 miles of open fresh country roads. LET's get ready to RUMMBLE.

I move to the right lane and even up, but he would not even up with me. We slow down to about 60 and no pull. All of the sudden he pulls early since he would not align with me. I loose 1 car length but make it up when I hit 4 and we reached about 110 and I was ahead 2 cars.

Round #2.. This time we slow down again and he knows that he has met his match. We see cars way ahead so we have another pull.

I await for the lighn up but he stays back. All of the sudden again he jumps without aligning with me, therefore again i'm on defense.

So I started from 3rd again and by the time I hit fourth I was ahead 1 car lengh and pulling. I could hear his blow off valve going when shifting and I heard at least 2 of them. By the time we hit 120 and we start seeing cars in front of us I'm about 3 cars and pulling ahead.... no need to push for more. TKO from a roll.

I slowed down to about 50 and waived him to slow down. At first he though I would do something since we wouldn't do it. we finally even up and waived good bye. Two thumbs up and good night. He was a young asian by himself.

THe STI was white and stock muffler. No signs of mods. Nice car and and I like that color on that car. I believe if he was slighly modded it would be a nice race.

Next time I run into one of these MODDED, i better have EVO Stage 1 in or have an E55.

Moral of the story. I was beggining to be bored with the C32 capabilities, last night just assured I will keep the car another 6 months to 1 year. I still want an 03/04 E55.

anybody else have tried to roll with a STI or EVO?

i wonder if the EVO (stock) would do better?

I'm waiting to roll with an E46 M3. I know from a stand still the M3 would have a better advantage.

I know I have read tons of post about M3's, but until I run into one (stock), I still don't know how the C32 will do. It would a nice driver's race....

C32
I have destroyed STis from a roll, and from a stop. No biggie. If they are modded they are tougher from a stop, but once rolling the C32 is hard to beat. M3s are pretty easy to dispatch from a roll too. Of course, I am modded, so that might have somthing to do with it.

I rolled with one when I first got my C43 - see "Kill Stories - C43 vs.WRX STi".Those cars are tough off the line but when you get them on a roll at high speeds our cars horespower & torque leads to s-e-p-a-r-a-t-i-o-n.

The UK STi`s and EVO`s have short gearing, they dont seem to be that quick above 100. In the wet from a standing start they are brilliant if the owner doesnt mind toasting the clutch
