Finally had a chance to take a couple pics.

Hey all, just wanted to share the new add-ons…

DPE R07 VS rivet less, silver powder coat, polished lip
19x8 19x10
235/35/19 265/30/19 PS2

Rubbing? Yup, slightly at the rear fenders but fixable with a quick shaving. (on to do list)
Ride comfort? Really nothing too drastically different at all…slightly bumpier. I personally like it better.
Handling grip? Crazy fun!

More pics here:
http://mercedesc55.blogspot.com/

Cheers,

Paul

Thanks!

More info to share:
With tires mounted, they each ended up being 5lb heavier up front and 10lb on the rear compared to the stockers…Boooo.

Yeah, I remember hearing that PS2’s are a bit square on the edges. I’ll shave what I can on the fenders and see what happens. Man, it better work. Which tires would you recommend by the way? Other options are good.

Do the MB center caps work with those wheels?

Comment on your suspension set up I am interested.

I totally agree. But the thing that sucks is… that's actually the lowest setting, perches all the way down. I think I was sold the wrong set of front springs. I scanned a pic of the labeling on the box I was sent. The item# on the front springs themselves are 31340503 and has the date 3/2004.

I wonder if anyone can confirm that I have the wrong front springs or not. The rears seem to be correct…plenty more room to go either way.

Yup, stocks are 18’s. The ride’s slightly bumpier if anything at all. There’s tons more lateral grip. But then again I went from bald Pirelli Rosso to fresh PS2’s. I can’t help it but to drive all crazy through off and on ramps even with the rubbing. I partly blame attending an AMG Challenge event.

Not sure how much research you’ve done already but the kit comes with Bilstein adjustable shocks and a set of Carlsson springs. Knobs on each shock from 1 to 9 allow you to tune the dynamics of the car. And of course the kit is ride height adjustable via threaded shock body and perches. Shock settings at 8… little bumpier than stock. You’ll definitely feel a bit more road than you do now. At 1… tried it once on a short trip to a carwash. It was super stiff… extremely too harsh for daily commutes. It’s all personal preference but 5 is what I ended up with. Just the right stiffness but nowhere near uncomfortable. Haven’t had complaints yet when hauling passengers. Oh wait, only once from a Lexus owner… I guess the glider action is cool too.

Oh and the center caps...won't fit... MB's are bigger.

Sweet pictures.

I noticed in your picture gallery that you have a picture of your car lowered on the stock 18s. What was the ride like with the stock 18 in wheels after the drop?

Is there any reason why you chose 19 x 8 instead of 19 x 8.5 for the front wheels?

Also, how big is the rear lip? I love the way it looks from the angle shot.

Thanks for the info! I am waiting until spring to lower the car and buy wheels because of the snow.

Keep us informed about tires if you do switch.

What was the ride like dropped with stock 18?…Tons of fun! Dynamics of the car are completely juiced up. The car stays flatter on turns. Dips, when accelerating and braking, are bye bye. This is all due of course to the lowered center of gravity, stiffer springs, and dampening. And you get the added quality and research of Carlsson. You’ll definitely start driving like your some crazy *** F1 driver. Lowering is practically a no brainier for a must do mod... for me at least. Go do it!

Good question on the front wheel size. DPE don’t sell half sizes unless you make a special order to. Just recently found out that I’m actually rubbing up front somewhere. I heard farting up front while backing out of a parking spot and it wasn’t me. The rubbing is so minute…I’m not too worried about it as much as my rears right now. I’ll search for marks (skid marks…hahaha) next time I pop the wheels off. 8.5 would probable be worse unless you buy tires with a rounder sidewall edge.

How big is the rear lip? Haven’t actually measured it. But dude… it’s pretty BIG! Let me know if you really want me to measure it.
