It's their way of tricking you out of $300 a year. It worked on me.

i haven't paid for teleaid for the past year...the thing indeed doesn't work anymore, but no error msg. You just get the "you are not dialing from an authorized location please try again" reply.

yup. my car came with teleaid for the first couple months for free i believe, so you had to activated it. once it's activated the error msg will stay away even after you cancel the subscription. I cancelled mine after 2 1/2 years with out any use for it.

my suggestion is to call the 1800 mb roadside number and tell them about the teleaid error msg and ask them to turn the error msg off for you. they'll probably ask for your VIN number etc and varify your name

I get that annoying malfunction warning too! I let my subscription run out, the malfuction popped up and won't go away. I can't stand it and the dealer told me the same thing, they cannot disable it.

I like your suggestion and will call tomorrow. If it can't be removed, I might suck it up and pay for another year.

The runaround

I had an error, and the dealer removed my Teleaid error message.

You would think that after several years of looking like fools when the customer knows better than they do, the dealerships would learn....

I found these notes

In stardiagnosis :-

Control Units -> Info. and comms. -> ICM -> Control Unit Adaptations -> Version Coding -> Optional Equipment

In the optional equipment menu you can set the following
to present or not-present depending on what you have

AUDIO, Tele-aid, Cellular Telephone, Trip Computer, Navigation
