Wasted 3 hours in a parking lot today waiting for my wife to bring me batteries for my keyfob. She brings them and still no good. So she drives all the way back to the house for the other keyfob and luckily it works. This POS car is starting to annoy me.

Can you buy these keyfobs at the parts counter or do I have to bring it in for service? Cost of this thing?

You don't need batteries to start the car with the Smartkey, they are just used for the remote functions. The key is more than likely bad and the prices vary from $125 - $175 for a new smartkey, and mine was $135. They have to be ordered based on your VIN, so you will have to wait. Also, the keys on eBay CANNOT be reprogrammed like many people seem to think they can.

Wish I had known that the battery part is not needed to start the car, it would have saved some time. I think there might even be something wrong with my other keyfob because it seems to eat batteries about once a year even though it is not being used.

I had better not have another lick of trouble with this car in the next year or it's over the cliff she goes. I have both an 18 and a 10 year old vehichle that have not given me near the trouble in their lifetime that the C32 has in the last 3 months.

You can always just enter the car manually with the (metal) key that is in the fob, and then use the main key (fob) to start and drive. Sorry you went through that!

Thats right. You could use the metal pin to open the door.

I did enter the car manually with the key, but the keyfob would not turn in the ignition. I am now going to carry my extra keyfob in the car at all times considering it takes 3 or more days to get a new one. Can't afford to be stranded 500 miles from home for 3 or more days if it happens again.
