2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8

What do you guys think of the new jeep grand cherokee srt-8? i just recently heard about this thing and was checking it out earlier. all wheel drive, 410 hp, 415 lb-ft, 0-60 in under 5 seconds, brembo brakes, dvd navigation. all for $40K. the car is just as fast as my c55, but comes in the form a jeep. of course you don't get the luxury of a benz, but the few interior pics that i saw looked pretty good. leather seats with srt embroidery and some carbon fiber detailing. and you could tow 3500 pounds. put some 22's on that bad boy.

from what i have read about it, it is damn fast!! i couldnt and wouldnt bring myself to buy, let alone drive a jeep but this would be a very respectable car on the road, ultimate sleeper! not bad or the $ either..i wonder how thirsty it is.

if you have a c55 and a jeep srt8 that it would be cool..

1 for driving when you don't need the kids and the other to haul around the family to dinner..

i personally think its a bit too small... I would save the $$ for the new escalade or MB GL450. A bit more luxury, more refinement and better resale value compared to a jeep. However the price would be at least $10k more.

Me too. This was talked about to death in another thread a week or two ago.

With a center exhaust where do you put the trailer hitch? I'd consider one if these if it would tow up to 5000 lbs. With only 3500 lbs rating looks like they shortcutted the engineering when a regular Grand Cherokee will pull 6000 lbs.

Not enough Daimler in that Chrysler for me. I had a 2003 Grand Cherokee Limited. Good vehicle (not great), lousy depreciation! Wedge that SRT-10 motor in it, and I might be able to overlook the rest.

I would rather get a 300C SRT-8 or something.

I hear that in Australia (I think) there is a dodge Magnum with a more upscale front end on it (not the huge cross-hairs). That would be a killer shooting-brake for sure.
