Underdrive Pulleys for C55 and all V8's For Sale

Parted out the evosport underdrive pulleys from my C55.

I picked up an 04 C32 for 36k, i think I'm the first in history to be trading in a 55 for a 32!

The pulleys dont include the belt, but it can be replaced for 30$ from evosport.

260$ shipped or best offer!

Thought you took your car back...

Anyway, what gives you more additional power? The chip or pulley?

I'm thinking of similar mods.... but am afraid it'll void the warranty.

Dude, were you dropped on your head as a child? Don't mean to be offensive, but I don't understand why anyone in their right mind would trade a C55 for a C32

alright, enough dropping head when i was a child crap. I'm tired of all the slap on the wrists from some members. I am looking for support and ideas for a C32...not personal insults from those who disagree.

I bought the C32 for reasons.

The c55 is a really nice car no doubt, but it isnt significantly better in terms of dollar value.

If someone checks the KBB value of our C55's....its depreciated like a rock. around 35k for trade in with 19xxx miles. I traded mine in for 40k.

I always wanted a supercharged car, and yes....money is a matter...i cannot afford the E55 yet. I really love the supercharger whine coming from the engine, although i have to give up the V8 sound from the exhaust.

By buying a C32, I get 4000$ back from trading in at 40k and buying a C32 at 36k.

The new C class body is going to come out soon, and since i figured the C55 depreciation rate follows closely to a C32 and that I already suffered the depreciation for the new car, i rather cut some losses by getting a c32. I already enjoyed being one of the first ones driving a C55 and i am aware how much money i lost...but hey...its a nice car....im not complaining.

Lastly...

i really like the evosport power packages.
everyone talks about getting a blower on the C55....but not many ppl do it...as of yet...plus it costs a lot to install and purchase the system.

The C32 with stage I evosport...although wont get me as much HP from a C55 with a blower...is still decent. The evosport power package seems to give a very good value for the HP gains.

Installation for power package is much easier to, same goes for uninstall.

And not many people can tell the difference between a C32 and C55...at least the girls i know!

The C32 is a very nice car. And I am happy with the car, and I am also very happy to have owned a C55 as well.

I hope I made it clear why i did this move.!

Long post, but oh well...

Zoink - about the evosport stage I, Im still researching around forums for warranty issues....but for the Underdrive Pulleys...I had them on for about two weeks. But I can tell you, Pulley + speedtuning chip + greenfilter did make a diff on the C55! =)

BLK Halo - The C32 is Black on Black ! same ex and interior color as the C55....I only like black on black mercedes!

Thanks for reply.... no for me it is personal preference moving from NA to S/C, even though smaller displacement (in this case, C55 to C32). My bro-in-law always likes the S4 w/ 2.7T vs. 4.2.

I personally like F/I also (S/C or Turbo) but bad experience w/ MB F/I (W211 E55) makes me think twice to get MB F/I again. Plan to get a lightly used '04+ E55 that has proven to have no warranty work in the near future... we'll see. The longer I have the more I think it doesn't make sense to have W210 E55 & C55. Hopefully, I have enough liquid money to move back to P-car.

Anyway, for the warranty, I've been hearing that it's case by case basis... you really have to have some luck w/ your SA as all decisions depend on him/her. So, I'm tempting but don't dare yet.

What's the difference do you feel? Better throttle response or better gear change point or ...? Have you done before and after dyno?

C32 is definately a car to get if you want to go mod crazy... its definatley the best $$$ to mod value of an MB. The C32 is a tuners car. The C55 is for one who doesnt want to mod much and wants a more refined vehicle that will cost much more to mod.

yup! I love FI cars too...this is my first FI car too! =)

Benzo- how did you deal with the service advisors when you added the overdrive pulleys? did they say anything?

about the C55 with those mods, i never dynoed my car....but with the chip, pulley and greenfilter and resonator delete...I beat my friend's SLK55 on the straight. (sorry N*sh*! No offense! =D) Throttle response was better and the car pulls a bit harder.....worth the upgrades....!

Thought resonator delete wouldn't do anything to performance... just a meaner sound.

Anyway, if you could beat SLK55 w/ just a chip, pulley & green filter, I think I'll do it.... may be I just try on my E first as I'm out of warranty already anyway.

dealer never gives me a hassle about it!!! heck, even teh dealers here are a renntech dealer...they sell some brand new RENNTeched cars too. I think most MB dealers here arent too **** about having mods. I mean about 60% of the MBs i see at the dealers are somewhat modded.

I just put the evo sport underdrive pulleys on my '05 C55 along with the green filters and magnacore ignition wires. The engine is quicker to rev up and seems to have quite a bit more pull. The butt dyno confirms it!! Able to chirp the tires in first and 2nd gear (havn't tried 3rd yet). This car is much faster and more capable than I've yet been able to discover -- it is certainly a lot faster and more agile than my former '99 C43. Can't wait for Spring.

I'm wondering if I should get the power chip or just let my mechanic friend with a Star computer and 25 years experience working on Benzes do the ecu tweaks himself. What do you think? I'm sure he could re-map the ignition timing and fuel delivery through the Star computer -- he builds MB club racers.

Regarding warranty: For me, MB never noticed that I had the evo sport underdrive pulleys on my '99 C43 or the magnacore wires -- they never gave me any trouble. Besides, they can't see them unless they remove the radiator or pulleys themselves. In any case, for them to legally deny warranty coverage, they have to establish that but for the modification, the item that needs warranty service would not have broken (i.e. underdrive pulleys cannot be used as a reason to deny warranty coverage on say the rain-sensor or wheel bearings, etc.).

Regarding your change from a C55 to a C32, congrats! your decision makes good financial sense and the difference in performance between the two cars is not that great. What I like is the newer interior and the around town driveablility of the NA V8 in the C55 -- not to mention the sound. Essentially, the choice between the two comes down to personal preference, nothing else.

Regards,

ranges from 50$ to 120$ depending on how well you know the shops.

But its an easy job, just need the right tools to remove the power steering pulley.

Thanks for the info.... I initially guessed that it was an DIY job.... but I'm not that handy plus no tools

So for ~$1000 ($500 pulley, $300 powerchip & green filter) you could make C55 faster than stock SLK55? Cool... will check my local shop and see whether he could do it or not...

Is the Evosport Pullies worth it ?
When did you notice the perf gains as soon as you installed it or when your ecu got used to it?

And does the Pulley come with the Belts for it or do you use the stock Belts

Because since the SLK55 shares the same engine with the C55 , I might get the Evosport Pullies and the (Green filter as soon as they are available!!!)

I felt the difference right away, mostly in the high rpm's. However, the engine reaches high rpm's much faster and more easily. Additionally, less hp is lost to the auxillary components even at low rpm. When I dynoyed my C43 with these pulleys, the imporovement was seen over the entire rpm range. I would say the evo sport pulleys are well worth it!!

Also you have to buy the evo sport belt ($30) for their pully set -- obviously, it would be slightly shorter than the OE belt.

Regards
