I need to fly you to Cali and pay you to do this my friend!
I bet we can get a group of guys from So Cali and SD that would love to get thier pump replaced with a better pump or newer pump
lets do the math:
$95 for the part. shipping is $10-12.
1 hour of your time at $95 hour (same rate other big name shops charge)
roughly $200 bones out the door!
I say if we can around 5 guys that are interested, we can set up a Saturday to fly down take care of our cars and make some money?
Of course we will pay for your flight here as well.
great job on your research.

Topgun,
I don't think you will get the Johnson 12V pump for $95.00 The best price I could get it for here in Australia was $560.00 AUD. I ended up replacing with the original as it was free under warranty. I got it even though warranty had expired. I had to fight for that one!

1FastC32 - When you say "It's like driving a whole new car" - what exactly do you mean? Can you expand on that for us?

check the website above.. they have many for $95.
remember we are talking about a Ford Lightning pump that is basically the same as the one used for our MB's.
The mark up is huge! MB's charges $600 and Ford part is $100.
with some slight mods to the connectors, it will work for our cars. Now we just need to show some sort of reliability before we can say its a "no brainer"
we are going through the observation period of this experiment.

i agree...
this is something we can do.
Just through it would be nice to have a bunch of C32's do it around the same time, since we will end up paying the dealer $600+ to get it replaced sooner or later after the warranty expires.
mine just expired and I just paid $350 for the MAP sensor.

i was told by my service rep, underneath the intake manifold. Where exactly... dunno!
The car responds even after 4 hours of driving through freeway and traffic. Example: My San Diego trip to pick up my tires I bought from a MBWolrd member. After 4 hours of constant use, the car still responded normally.
Before, it would somehow loose the power and I needed to downshift to get the kompressor working again.
but I think if you search MAP in this forum, there are many people that had this problem, hopefully they documented the exact location.

Search for 10-24190-1. This is a very high flow pump. I can't find the thread anymore but it flows several times more than the stock pump.

On a related note, don't forget that there is another fairly well-tested and inexpensive alternative to keep temps down. Aquamist water injection. As I understand, a properly installed system poses no risk to the car (in fact, quite the opposite). Has anyone here tried it since Ronnie (remember Ronnie's 2002 C32 - I wonder who bought it...)?
Oh - a couple of links:
