C32 AMG, C55 AMG (W203) 2001 - 2007

Question for you C32 owners

I have a few question for those knowledgable in the area of a C32 AMG.

1. How long would I have to wait to get ahold of a C32 AMG without being on a list I mean how long till they hit the dealers?

2. My current car is a E55 AMG and I want a newer and im not sure how to put it "sleeker" looking car and the C32 seems to be a good choice. What were the reasons you purchased your C32 and over what cars?

3. I realize the C class is the lower end of the Mercedes line-up but is the quality of the interiour still reasonable compared to say a E class?

4. Any mods that are out there for this car that are definetly worth it besides rims and tired which I would do something about if I get the car. Mods such as suspension, or brakes how are they pretty good?

Thanks in advance and if any of the questions seem stupid please forgive me because I am not to knoledgable on the C32!

1) If you are not on a list, you still have a good chance of catching an unsold car on the dealer lot. The only catch is that the car will not have been ordered by you, therefore you cannot choose the options this way. My suggestion is to contact all the dealers in your area, and tell them you're looking for a car off the lot (if you want it right away). If you can wait, get on a list.

2) C32 is an all around car, and awsome for the price, if you need an automatic look here. It has good handling with better acceleration. Your E55 would feel very heavy and clumbsy compared to this car. However, the C32 is not a Porsche either.

3) I was upset at the C240 interior, but the C32 interior I can live with. Nappa leather, and decent interior plastics.

4) Performance mods are just coming out, as well as suspension. A lot of people look for more power first, but personally I'm all for handling improvements. So, thicker anti-sway bars, springs, and wider FRONT tires to reduce understeer is where I'd go. Brakes are fine to me.

1. i would guess the waiting list to be around 6 months or so because as i know of each dealer in CA only gets one C32 per each month. i don't know about the other states though. better start bugging those dealerships if you really want one.

2. For me, if i could get a E55 i would, since E55 is a much expensiver car with more status. as for the performance i believe the C32 is a little faster to 60 mph (stock everything of course). the reason i got the C32 was because i wanted a four door instead of the only two like my previous car 328CI. another reason was because of the price for the SMG II M3 with the options that i want would top my C32's price by over $2000.

3.i think that the interior quality and material used in the C32 is much better than the current E you have, but when the new E arrives next month my story will change. Unless you are keeping your E55, i would not recommand you to trade the E55 for the C32 because i don't think you would be happy with the space in the C-class.

4. there are no engine mod as of now, but there are quite some suspension mods that you can choose from. ex: H&R, Carlsson, and so on. i think the stock cross-drilled rotor with 4 piston brake is pretty good already, but if you want there is always Brembo.

You might get lucky

When I walk into the dealer last week in Encino, CA, there were 2 C32s but when I left the dealer both of them are gone on the same day. I was able to get a discount of $1200 below the sticker and 2 free car detail from dealer. Anyway, you might get lucker!!

I'd get the E500, just a little more $$$ than the C32 with comparable performance (42 less HP?) and way more status.

Well for the enthuisiast, 42hp is kind of a lot to have "comparable" performance...and AMG's are way more rare than the E500 will be. Go back to making your C320 look like a C32 JK. That was a bad joke.

Seriously though, they are way different cars and thus non-comparable. Depends on the age and preference of the driver too. I like the size and performance advantages the C32 has, maybe when I'm older the E will be in my garage.

Hey thanks for all the help you guys it has made me think alot. I was thinking about selling my E55 for something with a newer and sleeker look. But I am not sure I wanna go down the food chain to the C32 ( no affence to you owners that is a hell of a car!) But me being 25 I am not sure I want an S class. If I got an S class I think I would get a 02' S500 and do some custom work to it. Or I might look into a 02' CLK 55 AMG??

I say you definitely keep the E55 and get your self another C32 or a 03 CLK55
