C32 AMG RENNTech
Service Campaign 2006-030011
Received the notice yesterday. They would like us to bring in the C-Class cars for a software upgrade to the ECU to correct a false "check engine light" warning due to a secondary air injection pump relay.
I have a C32 AMG with RENNTech ECU upgrade. I was wondering if the software upgrade with adversely impact the RENNTech code?
Do any of you have any experience with this or some information to share?
I plan on calling RENNTech tomorrow to get their input as well.

i would talk to renntech, but i would think that having the dealer reflash your computer would erase anything that renntech has done...usually only your tuner can answer that question

I talked to my service advisor. He told me they only updated part of the ECU, not the performance parameters. So my chip should not be erased. I still have to check with my tuner to make sure.

I will call RENNTech tomorrow and post their response about the MB dealer ECU reprogram and it's impact on thier performance ugrades. If the reprogram will impact the mods I'll likely hold off on getting the car to the dealer, since there is no problem.
In the interim, if anyone has been through a MB recall impacting ECU programming and have aftermarket ECU upgrades, please share your experience.
Thanks

Any downside to doing this? Where is the connection to unplug?

Thanks for adding the link from the other thread.
I spoke to RENNTech today, and they suggested either putting off the service if there is no current problem, but be aware that they will reflash the eprom if you go in for other work, or getting the recall done and then sending them the ECU for reprogramming at RENNTech. They will reprogram at no charge, our cost would be shipping both ways.

yes I had this done Friday. they told me that that pump dont need to run all the time, only when you start your car. They did this because they had to replace a lot of secondary air pumps on warranty and MBUSA is saving money by just Flashing the ECU making the pump run less than replacing that $400 pump.

Coincidence or What
Last week I start noticing that after short bursts, sometimes after some minutes cruising at the highway, pushing the car to make a pass and the revs would just go up with little power to the wheels. Like no supercharger. Then waiting extra minutes and the supercharger/power comes back.
Could it be related to this recall or whatever fancy name MB wants to call it?
Thanks!
Ricardo.
