1FASTC32's Cheep Intercooler Pump Replacement
it would be nice to see some temps of before and after if anyone you know has OBDII scanner that is capable of reading all of the engine sensors...otherwise you are shooting in the dark
In any case, I noticed three things when replacing my C32 pump:
1. The pump in the C32 sits horizontally. Seems to me that this puts more stress on the impeller blade/shaft than if the pump were mounted vertically. Maybe Ford mounts the pump vertically in the Lightning?
2. Care has obviously been taken by MBZ to try to isolate the pump from vibration by the use of rubber mounts and sleeve, which tells me that MBZ realized that vibration would cause stress on the pump. We all know that the C32 motor is not the smoothest beast in the world. Maybe MBZ didn't do enough to isolate the pump, and maybe Ford did.
3. The C32 pump is fairly exposed to the elements, including road grit and rain water. The pump is sealed, however, so I can't see how this would matter.
Any thoughts?

I just received my pump yesterday and I’m about to start working on it. The only question I have is what and where is the liquid source for the pump refilled. This is step 9 in the instructions. Is it the coolant liquid that I need to refill?
Again, thanks for the great write-up!!! You and 1fastc32 deserve an award for this great find!!!!
If your car is stock, your coolant reservoir is what you will need to refill after replacing the pump.
If you have Evo mods, then you would refill the windshield washer reservoir.
Good luck.

When pump goes, it's pretty obvious. After driving for a little bit in/out of
boost, it suddenly feels like the car has asthma, no power at all, feels like a clogged catalytic converter.
Yes, on the mounting, there is probably a preferred orientation and vertical makes more sense than horizonal. Running Horizonal probably wipes out the bottom side of the bearing. Has anyone mounted the replacement coolant pump
vertical in a C32? How about contacting the manufacturer?
It is cheaper to buy it from Ford dealer than MB dealer, but it is the same pump.
So far Johnson pump has been on my C32 for the last 33,000 miles and no failures. Whether it is better than Bosch - only time will tell.

anyone know what the specs on our stock pumps are how much do they pump? If you increase the flow by a certain percentage..lets say 10% wouldent you need to increase the size of the heat exchanger the same amount?

..........sorry what are the flow bstats on the johnson ump. I don't hve a C32AMG, but I have a W208 CLK32K that I am interested in changing the water pump.

Johnson pump flows 6 times more than Bosch pump.
It should. It's outlet is 1.5'', Bosch's outlet is 0.75''.
If you have studies fluid dynamics you will understand.
If you did not, you will remember exponential function from physics.
If you were a dimwit in physics, than just remember that 90 is bigger than 15 by a factor of 6.
All kidding aside, Johnson pump needs a lot more hardware to make it fit MB vs. stock Bosch.
In the end unless you are at Stage II, do not worry about.
If you are at Stage II on C32, than you know who to call to make Johnson pump fit your car.
It is a simple as that.
Thank you for listening.
Here is one group of pumps:

The small CM10P7-1 16mm pump, looks to be about the size on the C32, the large C090P5-1 90mm model draws a lot of current and will need a much bigger relay. The CM30P7-1 20mm is probably a better fit for a C32, but still may need a bigger relay.
The large 90mm pump probably needs larger tubing and heat exchangers.
NOTE:
Important!
The pumps can be installed in optional position, horizontally or vertically.
To avoid air-locks when mounted horizontally, the
outlet should be turned in such a way that the it is directed upwards or is placed on the upper side of the pump body
If if one gets too low on cooler, so the pump gets an airlock, it's over for the pump.
do you have a website for Diversified Products?
I searched e-bay and right now I only 2 pumps for auction and 1 for $145 "buy now"
I have not called them yet, but I wanted to order online.
