The group that I'm using as teachers for this stuff is the local sport-compact group - evos and wrxs and tegs and s14 etc... but they have given me some good ideas. I'm doing the johnson water pump and a larger heat exchanger and they suggested I give the inter-cooler it's own reservior but make it out of a metal container and put it in an ice-bath(when racng) relocated to the trunk. Dunno about that ice-bath thing, but I'm definitely doing the pump and larger cooler - warranty is almost up, then my hands are untied

Has anyone ever checked to see what a Chrysler dealer would charge for this pump for a Crossfire SRT? It's got to be the exact same thing, and maybe they apply a more reasonable markup.

Yeah, just did that... $801.00 for the pump in Atlanta. NOT a reasonable markup.

Glad I called so I didn't have to put a bag over my head to visit their parts department.

Truly amazing. That's even more than Benz wants for the $99 pump, isn't it? I wonder how many $900 parts you can find in a Chrysler dealership.

I am ordering this tomorrow and will be performing this change. I plan to take pictures through the whole process step by step and will post them instruction style. Should add some visuals for this Do-it-yourself.

It might be a good idea to get some coolant liquid from MB before you start the change. I lost a lot of coolant, the thing went crazy as soon as I loosened the hose from the pump. I replaced the lost coolant with water since it was Saturday evening and I needed to travel next day. I already went and bought some coolant but now I need to figure out how to drain the water I put in to replace it with the coolant liquid. I'm supposed to do it through the radiator plug but I can't find it?!?!

You need to modify the front bumper. Mine is in and works great (read other threads). No sense in making a new heat exchanger with the same diameter tubing. My tubing is much larger and flows more volume through the unit. Prototype is installed and running great. Wait until mine is finished in a few months and I can have them made for you guys as well.

So i replaced my pump and at first after the pump install my supercharger shut down at about 80mph with the new pump. car was slow like hell didnt help it was about 98 outside. I drove the car back home to see what happened i took my battery jumper out and hooked up the pump to see if it was working. yes it was but it was gurgling. I think there was air in it so I let it run for a while and i took the cap off to see if I get some air out of the system, sure enough air came out. took the car out again but this time no more shut down. i also tested my old pump it was still good. so now I know how it feel when your supercharger shuts down

i hope you didn't damage your new pump by running it dry...probably not, but i guess you know what it feels like if it goes out...drive on

this are centrifugal pumps that are running on magnets so you cant damage it by running it dry. i was flooring it and it would try to kick down to 4th but the supercharger was off so it felt real slow.

i was thinking it has some type of bearing in the actual pump part of it that can go bad if ran dry for too long, i could be thinking of something else though...too many projects scrambled in my brain right now

Pump's motor is NOT cooled by coolant, so it can run dry.
