yeah gomini.com but the site is down.

i kinda want to keep it "classic" transplanting a 180hp engine seems like fun but somewhat a b(a)stardization of the car.

Nice car. Even when standard they can be great fun.

They look like UK licence plates?

AWD, congrats. What are the stats on this car? Do you have any horsepower, torque, 0-60, weight and other info?

I'm amazed by how much speed car makers were able to get out of pretty small engines of the past. Weight, weight, weight!

Cool Car!

Modern cars are great, But there is something to be said for simplicity of older vehicles, and there's nothing like the sound of a good set of duel carbs. I have a 1969 BMW 2002, and even though it has no A/C or any creature comforts to speak of, it's a blast to drive and always turns heads. I looked for an old mini when I was living in Germany but never found one that was worth shipping back, due to rust in particular.

well it needs a tune up as it's running rich and down on power. i found someone in long island ny who raced minis for 16 yrs and he will check it out.

still, with 1300 lbs it does go if not create the sensation you are travelling at a decent rate...being so close to the ground and confined in a small space. i thought my s2000 had fast steering the mini is unreal, don't sneeze above 50 mph. this is a very primitive car but fun nontheless. but not something to take on a highway trip. i can tone down the exhaust i suppose but why?

it's relatively easy to import these now (>25 yrs old) the feds have made it much less restrictive. i only had a vin verification no emissions no safety. (??).

bad news is my wife has taken it over and says i can have the c32. so if you see a chick in a cowboy hat running around ct well that was my mini. bah humbug!

I had a '67 Morris Mini 'S' I regret the day I EVER sold it - I was broke poor college student and it really needed a complete restoration which I could not afford. I mean nitrided crank, dual carbs, hydrolastic, dual tanks, the whole shebang...Enjoy it, it's like a go cart.

thanks guys. i grew up in the west indies and i suppose the mini is to me what a gto would be to most of you guys. the car you wanted but couldnt quite swing /or too young to own.

i've gotten some info from the mini forum since. bobby pack of gomini may be in jail for ripping off customers. but i've found http://superfastminis.com/
spoke to the guys there i plan on having them install a honda b16b at some point. the b16b is one amazing engine. 9000 rpm, 185hp. 1600cc. expensive tho like $4K. otherwise i probably would not consider doing this. John what engine are you installing?

last october my wife didn't pull up the handbrake all the way- the mini rolled back into a suv and badly dented the rear trunk hatch. so i've got to get that fixed. also want to get a set of panasports this summer. i was lucky to score a set of 14"s for the swift off ebay.

to see this tiny thing motoring along brings an involuntary grin to the face. it's a keeper! and i only paid 4 grand!!!!

We're aiming to drop a b16a2 or if we're very lucky and can come accross a reasonably priced b18c5 we'll drop that in :P Bigger is better!

At this point it doesnt matter much because your mini looks TONS better than ours. The mini im working on was meant to be a "long" project w/ plenty of time invested. In otherwords we purchased it roughly as 30% rust :P We've got it stripped down to just the body right now and we are trying to move it to a better location for battling rust and what nots.

Are you gonna pimp out the suspension? That is probably my biggest question ive got w/ the mini thus far. Ive seen sports springs for the car but i havent found coilovers yet and with the unusual design of the trumpet suspension im starting to question if there are any coilovers out there period.

John keep me posted as you progress. as to coilovers i'm not sure what's out there. I pick up miniworld mag occasionally -lots of suspensions not sure if i noticed any coilover systems. my suspension is new so no need to address right now. ride is very stiff.

reason i would not go for a b18 is due to the weight. i'd think the car would become too nose heavy and torque steer with the power. yeah, i like the b16b, what a gem. hand ported by the honda boys. you can pull close to 200 streetable hp from this 1600cc wonder @ 9000 + rpm. i dislike vtec or stepped valve timed engines (toyota vvi eg- lotus elise) EXCEPT where there is enough rpm range in both normal and high valve lift high.

Such a wonderful machine, that Mini. Back in school, had a buddy with a straight one (like yours) who loved to get after it in the canyons. Very impressive.

Seems like you're contemplating that engine transplant. If you decide against the swap, or just want to optimize your existing drivetrain, I've got a good book for you. It is David Vizard's Tuning BL's A-Series Engines. ISBN 0-85429-732-4. About $50 back in the day for its 488 pages. Still a good read as Vizard, and his contributors, have wrung a respectable amount of reliable power from that motor.

If you haven't read it, let me know. It is yours to check out from the ol' library.

Beautiful car. It is a blast to drive a rare car from the 70's.

Better add a couple more lights on the front. Just kidding.
