About 13-14 in the city, which is most of my driving - 20-21 on the highway. Probably averaging 15 or so overall. Car is stock.

This is basically identical to the 04 M3 I had, BTW.

25.5 constant speed of around 50 mph, medium-heavy traffic on the highway. Average 18.6 in the city. Air conditioner on all the time.

120 mph cruise will see single digit numbers, i.e, 8mpg

70mph cruise around 18 mpg

around town 12-14 mpg on a good day, all down hill

I drive a C55 in NYC, and I did couple of tests which surprised me:

City driving:
Driven on the same street with lots of stop lights. Avg speed 14mph.

- Drive like a granny, very slow in C - 12mpg
- Drive like a granny, very slow in S - 11.6mpg

- Drive very aggressively in C - 13mpg
- Drive very aggressively in S - 14mpg

Highway driving:
- haven't conducted extensive testing but I get 18-19mph. Becomes worse with traffic.

Here's a question. In C, since it starts in 2nd gear, does it consume more gas to get it going from a stop?

Why is my more aggressive driving consuming less fuel in city driving?

i never drive mine *****-footed enough to get good gas mileage so I wouldn't really know. I average about 230 miles a tank or so. No one here should be complaining about mpg because all of us knew we were getting either a force fed v6 or a 5.4 liter v8

I average around 19MPG on my trip to and from work which is a mixture of highway/city. Normally doesn't drop below 14 even in stop and start.

Where in NYC are you located? There are 3 or 4 of us now with C55's in NYC we should get a little meet up together sometime this summer.

C32 mpg

My 2003 C32 with 58k on the clock routinely gets 24 mpg on the highway if I set the cruise and the road is flat and I keep the speeds in the 80mph range or lower. I have found little difference if I go much slower or much faster as long as I am cruising and not hammering the throttle. +/-2 mpg between 55mph and 120mph. City it varies from 17-22 mpg depending on how much I play with the go pedal. I am a lead foot so it usually is on the lower end of this, but in smiles/per gallon the C32 rocks! My mods include a C3P intake and pulley. Prior to the mods, I had gotten as good as 25-26 mpg highway. I gladly give up the fuel for the extra 40 odd hp the mods gave me.

I have a work car that gets 32 mpg but often, I would rather drive the benz. My older C36 would get 24 mpg highway at 70 mph and 27 mpg at 100 mph and seemed to get better with speed up to 120 mph. I guess the variable DOHC system was tuned for best efficiency at autobahn speeds. Not as fast as a the C32 but a really nice older car.

20-22 mpg in a combination of city/highway in a C55. Drive like my granny though and it's never really cold outside.

As a point in comparison, driving the same way in a 1.4l Golf in colder temperatures I average 35 mpg.

(all according to the "since reset")
18mpg with i'd say 50/50 freeway/city

however if i reset the computer while im cruising at 75 and let it go for a few miles it says im at 24.5ish

very happy with those numbers for what a beast the car is

...although at last weekend's AMG pch cruise.... 13.2 =)

I get almost exactly 20MPG / tank on both the trip and calculated at the pump. Computer is dead on. On the freeway I get about 25. Unfortunately we have crap-*** reformulated gas here with 10% ethanol. That costs me at least 1 MPG all around. Some how when I first put on my Hakkapeliitta R snow tires last winter I got a little over 30MPG on the freeway at 70 . (I have photographic evidence) But that almost never happens. The 20 average is pretty good though, because I'm lord of the 2-mile drive. I live 2.8 miles from work. I drive there, shut it off. Drive to lunch, about 2 miles, shut it off (or even worse idle through a drive through). Drive back, shut it off. Drive home, shut it off. My starter probably has almost as many revs as the motor, lol.

Oh yeah, car is bone stock.

The fuel economy numbers with my C32 are more sensitive to atmospheric conditions than any other car I've owned.

I've gotten 27 mpg once or twice on the highway, but typically average about 22mpg overall.

Not sure if this works for you guys, but I get better fuel economy when I do not use cruise control.

I'm going to be doing a 1,300 mile drive next weekend, and will report back on what kind of mileage I get. I plan to keep the cruise set at 75mph. I normally average around 17-18 around town and 22-23 on the highway.

I usually average about 19-20mpg, but on long road trips hovering around 75mph, I nudge up against 24mpg.

Only mods thus far are K&Ns.

I averaged 25.2 MPG on the Autobahn tonight with the whole family and shopping bags. Just enjoyed the ride. Car has 78000 something miles on it.

Is that an African or European gallon?

Almost unbelievable! Just by reading the number of replies to your post, most do average 17-19 mpg city and 21-23 highway. And that's a combined granny and spirited driving I presume.
My driving distance to work is 2.9 miles. After a 90 second warm up, my computer read out is 10.4 by the time I get out of my driveway. By the time I get to work (city streets) I only get a reading of 15.6 max.
But then, I haven't driven 17 miles or more to get anywhere to an EPA average reading of 17 mpg city.
I usually get 23.5 mpg highway cruising at 75 mph. Ocassionally, a 30 second burst to 145 mph on I-5. That's it.
BTW, I do have mods (pulley, intake, chip)

[QUOTE=ScottW911;1608867]Holy Cow! No Granny could get that kind of milage out of a C32 or C55! I've tried both Granny and Hammer styles of driving. My average with Granny style is like the previous post, 15 mpg (tops) around town/stop-and-go, 20-22 on the highway. [\QUOTE]

Really?
