Wow! With my '03 C32, I only get 15mpg in urban driving and maybe 20mpg in highway driving. I even complained to the dealer and they told me that was normal. I don't have any mods on it, at least not that I know of. I bought it used 1 year old.

Holy Cow! No Granny could get that kind of milage out of a C32 or C55! I've tried both Granny and Hammer styles of driving. My average with Granny style is like the previous post, 15 mpg (tops) around town/stop-and-go, 20-22 on the highway. Unfortunately, most of my driving is around town. I will get 200 miles per tank.

Hammering the throttle only causes the dash-mounted computer to laugh at me as it drops my average mpg frighteningly close to single digits.

I'm sure none of us bought these vehicles for great gas milage. There is a price to pay for the sheer joy of the beast.

I've never gotten anything above 23 or so - even on long drives to chicago in the 60mph range.

I just drove 545 miles from Charlotte, NC to Georgetown, SC and back with 70 miles around town down there. Got 25.5 mpg going there(down Hill) and 24.2 coming back, for an average 23.9 mpg. Only did 90 mph twice when passing. Driving like Granny the rest of the time.

upon driving to vegas i broke into the upper 25mpg arena, this was over 280 miles, speeds varrying from 65-90. i got 340 miles or so on that tank. But normally i get about 225 miles per tank, averaging 15-19 mpg.

Are you guys figuring your mileage from what the on board computer says or are you filling the tank and dividing the miles travelled per total gallons used? I find most on board computers to be off some. My 2000 bimmer computer usually calculates a couple mpg higher than the other method.

Ric,

That is because your computer is calculating your fuel consumption even whilst you are not moving ie; at stop lights etc.

Getting 12.8 L/100 km from C32 here in Sydney, all city driving. This calculates to: 12.8 liters/100 km = 18.3761393 miles/gallon(US).

Engine Mods are:
- Powerchip ECU
- K&N Air Filters
- Sprint Booster
- Upgraded Evosport I/C Coolant Reservoir.

16-18 MPG combined. Can do 23-24 on highway if you keep the S/C off, which means 75 MPH max cruise. Can get into low teens if just driving around town and having fun. This is with Evo pulleys, ECU, and various other mods (mods don't seem to affect mileage).

I'm getting 15.2 L/100km, calculated since I've got the car new in 2002.
No mods, and strictly driven in the city.

Exactly what I've averaged (23.9 mpg) over the last 6 months and 4,000 miles.

Stock C55, in Chicago city traffic, about 11-12 MPG according to the on-board computer. I am pretty quick off lights and stop signs...

I am very impressed with these figures. Given the amount of power output, these are not bad fuel consumption figures. The vehicle is always filled with 98 Octane fuel which I believe helps to achieve these figures.
