C32 Clutch driven supercharger???
All,
I read somewhere that the C32, and possibly the C55, have a clutch driven supercharger, so when power is not required the supercharger is dis-engaged. Is this true and if so, what are the criteria for it to engage? I finally drove a C32 last night and I could feel a slight delay in power when going from "easy" driving to pushing the car.
Also, does anyone know if AMG makes a car seat?? I know about the Recaros, but was curious if anyone had an AMG and what there thoughts were on it.
Thanks much,
George.

May have answered my own question
From what I have just found, it looks like the SC is on a clutch which always engages at 2900rpm, irregardless of throttle position.
So the next question I have is, can you really drive around town keeping the rpms under 2900 and if so, what type of gas mileage are you getting?
These are just curiosity questions and not decision makers. After driving the C32 last night, I am pretty much sold on it. Great performer, but still mild enough to make the wife happy for around town cruising!
thanks,
g3.

lately i have relaxed my driving attitude (most of the time), partly because of the cost of petrol and also partly due to the increase of mobile speed traps.
and as such my fuel consumption has risen from an average of 16/17 mpg up to an average of 19/20 mpg with a best of nearly 28 mpg on a long drive (according to the trip computer).

I actually wished the kompressor would engage sooner..
i need more torque sooner.
believe it or not my old 03 G35 felt way torquier around towwn. Great engine. It felt like a small v8.
The 3.2L Komp really shines at the mid range and high speeds.
This is why I think AMG decided to drop the C32 for the C55.

I'm surprised that nobody has hacked the engine management system to adjust this setting (among other things). Of course, that would only mean more fuel consumed, and it's bad enough already!
