C55 exhaust project on my c32

jk mark. Yes, please take pics when you're removing the old tire well. Thanks.
Took a few back breaking hours getting the old fiberglass spare tub out yesterday. I was working alone with some of the recommendations from Sunman. Needless to say trying to use a scraper to pry the tub may have worked if i spent all day at it.
Rather than spend more time trying to remove the tub I just picked up a jigsaw and cut the middle of the fiberglass tub out then used a screwdriver and a razor blade scraper to remove the edges of the tub and epoxy. It was much quicker from there.
A nice surprise was that the right side mounting screws for the aluminum heat screen were already on the frame. It was a quick bolt on. Actually everything fit perfect.
The guy at the muffler shop had to cut off the resonator and weld the pipe. He cut the bumper for the right side tips. He also had to weld on a bolt for the right side muffler hanger. Unfortunately there wasn't a hole in the frame for the bolt. I also ordered another muffler hanger as I only had one and should have two. He will need to weld another bolt on for that one too as there wasn't a hole for either muffler hanger.
I have the kit to epoxy the new tub down but don't have double gun to get it out. I think I might just take it to the dealer to have them do it. Should take less than an hour.
Some other finishing touch parts that I am buying to complete; Trunk carpet kit that goes over the tub and rear trunk plastic piece where the trunk shuts. The old carpet doesn't fit the new tub (latch doesn't line up) and the old trunk plastic piece doesn't line up right either. I could try to make it work but would rather just replace as my trunk carpet is kinda worn out.
Carpet: $115
Plastic piece: Waiting for price
Parts (3"steel pipe) and labor was $200. I was at the shop for about 1 1/2 hours.

Thanks for all the positive comments.. Man I just love how this exhaust sounds!! That was the one thing I was jealous about when I test drove the C55..
I just found this thread today. I wish I knew about it earlier,
but considering I was out of the country for a year, I don't know if I could of helped any in your quest for C55 heat shields and other hard to find OEM AMG parts. I would of recommended asking Steve (MBenzNL) for the acquisition of those hard to find "only in Germany" parts that the US MB dealers never have or keep ordering the wrong one.
Anyway, I was with Wiedermann every step of the way when he converted his C32 exhaust to C55. As a matter of fact his C32 exhaust sat in my garage for months... He did his work here in San Diego. AUTOWERKS DIRECT (now defunct) brokered the work through Mike, but I actually know the muffler shop that did the work. The spare tire tub was definitely the toughest part of the job (mostly figuring out how to remove it). I did my C32 exhaust custom install on my C-Coupe at the same muffler shop (ED HANSON).
Let me know if your C32 muffler and heat shields are still available. I can have those installed on a worthy San Diego 3.2L V6 Sports Sedan that's just crying for AMG exhaust. PLEEEAAASSE !!!
Thanks !
