Chrysler Crossfire....has a c32 engine?
I was daydreaming today about owning a C32........What a sleeper! Then for some reason I thought about the engine and poof doesn't chrysler have a supercharged 6 also?
After 5 min of research, yup the do. The eningine is from MB (duh) but 19hp less.
I guess my question is what is the difference in performance?

i don't think that is the SRT6 you are talking about, it is faster than the C32...should be anyways, it is lighter...

The SRT-6 pretty much has the supercharged V6 from the AMG, but without the AMG plastics and emblems. I think the car is based off of the r170 SLK so it pretty much "works" in the end. Also, the Crossfire is made Europe.

I personally own a SRT-6 Crossfire and it has the same 3.2 supercharge AMG motor as the MB slk32 and c32. The crossfire quicker than the c32 due to it's weight advantage.
With dealers currently discounting the SRT-6's $10-$12K they are a good deal for anyone seek good power and style at a fair price.

I was lined up with an SRT-6 at a red light on Friday night. He was lighting up his tires for the older-model Volkswagen GTI next to him on the other side, and didn't even see me. Regrettably, I didn't get a chance to run because my pregnant wife was with me. She loves a race as much as me, but neither of us are THAT risky. Anyway, I did pull away smartly enough to see the GTI and Crossfire race. That GTI was heavily modded, because I could hear a turbocharger and him & the Crossfire looked to be an even match until almost a half mile down the road!

Wouldn't it be fun to get the Chrysler engine covers, snap them in, and show folks how Chrysler is making all the AMG motors?

Has anyone put a paper bag on their head and gone to a Chrysler dealership to check on parts pricing? Basic stuff like air filters, oil filters and the dreaded intercooler pump are obviously going to be the same part, but perhaps at a lesser markup.

I doubt it would be cheaper, since the parts would need to come from Germany. Your typical Chrysler dealer will most likely get them from a MB.
But if you are looking for the pump.. you will find it at your Ford Service counter.

I agree with this statement...
however... the SRT-6 does not have the AMG transmission software and traction control tuning of AMG.
This has provent to be the real factors on our 5sp transmissiong.
same transmission, different software configurations.
The SRT-6 is down 19hp and 22lbs of torque to the C32, but the C32 weighs about 200lbs+ more
3328 vs 3540
so in theory.. they are about equal.. but I would give the advantage to the AMG transmission (35% faster shifts)
handling, I would think the SRT-6 is a small beast.

how would one upgrade the tranny to the amg specs - by geting the software?
c32 odps, headers can fit srt6 how about the ecu? anyone know if they are the same?
it's seems the weight difference is greater. the srt6 weight quoted by topgun32 may be the convertible. the coupe is 3240. ...and..i thought the c32 was heavier.
srt6- with stage 2, a lsd, amg tranny and pilot cups may be a great daily driver/ track car (for me).
the srt6 uses recirculating ball vs rack and pinion am i correct? can someone comment on handling differences?

I was also wondering.....
technically the SRT-6 is based on the SLK32 amg. R170 series.
there was the "airbox" question over at crossfireforums. about a SRT-6 retrofitting a "SL SPLITTER" in the SRT-6. I belive so that this CAN work?
also, since the crossfire coupe, has the same M112 as the C320, technically wouldnt both airboxes fit each other?

Well...the SRT8 Charger I drove had the "speedy" manumatic transmission. I'm not sure if it has AMG software (prolly doesn't), but they told me it's faster than a normal Charger's transmission.

Crossfire SRT-6
I drive a crossfire SRT6 and would like to answer the couple of questions.. the crossfire puts out 330 horsepower as stated by the company instead of the 349 that c32 and slk32 put out this was done for marketing reasons and done by having a slightly more resistrictive air flow from the camshafts and exhaust system.., but the performance advantage of the slk32 is mostly not noticeable and the crossfire has a slight advantage on the c32 as it weighs about 350 pounds lighter..
As for the sales of the car.. they have been unsecusseful because the starting msrp was 50k and it something that most people are just not ready to pay for a chrysler.. and very few people realize that it is dominantly a mercedes not a chrysler... same interior, platform and engine.. about 40% of the compoenents are taken DIRECTLY from the slk32 another 50% is taken and slightly modified or made from different materials.. ie interior.. the crossfire has an extremly limted aftermarket for itself so most people interested in tuning these cars cross-refrence them to the slk32 amg tuning done by renntech, evosport, and other typical mercedes tuners in their area..
and no the srt8 is not touched by amg.. or any other chrysler car for that matter has an engine from mercedes or tuning from mercedes other than platforms..
Hope this helps

I would own one if it was the right price and it had extended warranty and its manufacturer's warranty.

Crossfire SRT-6
It does have that the only thing it does not have is a mercedes benz emblem as you yourself stated.. new coupes (2005 with 0 milege) can be purchased for around 28k that is ridicolously low for what you are getting... unfortunatly most people cannot understand, belive, that the car is more mercedes than chrysler... it is their loss..

yes the headers will not fit, but i am not sure what you mean by amg tranny... we already have the same trany as the slk32.. it does make a pretty good driver, but some people complain that the ride is a little too harsh, but meh it dosen't bother me much

same tranny, but different programming...

The SRT-6 is a potential goldmine for one searching for a sporty car at a reasonable cost. It can be easily tuned, is very competitively priced, and will be a better handler than the R170 SLK due to a fixed roof.
