Replacing factory Nav unit in C55

Call me crazy but I am seriously considering replacing my factory NAV / head unit on my 2006 C55 with an aftermarket piece, something along the lines of the Pioneer AVIC z1. I have already replaced the amps and speakers.

My questions are:

1. What size head unit will fit in the factory opening? A double DIN?

2. What trim kit would you recommend? I have the dark wood interior trim. I believe it is not available on other C class sedans, only the C55 and other class cars.

3. How much could I sell my factory head unit for?

4. Could I still use my factory cd changer? If I won't be able to, how much is it worth?

5. Is there any functionality I would lose other than the factory navigation and steering wheel controls?

I had originally posted this in the w203 section as it would apply the same to any 2006 C-class model. I would assume the c32/c55 board gets a lot less traffic.

Anyone have any answers for me?

Thanks.

most likely the reason people aren't replying is that they're thinking...STFF...which is what i thought but then i started to feel bad for you after seeing no replies for several days. anyways, you might want to try doing a search first and then posting in the audio and electronics forum.

i've seen a bunch of pics of double din units for the c class so i'm sure it'll fit. i believe the single din retractable screen types may block the a/c vents.

the trim is up to you but it'll probably be pretty hard to match the factory wood trim. maybe your shop can suggest some options for you...that is unless you're doing the install yourself.

check ebay for an estimate of how much those parts are worth..or better yet search the classified section.

you still might be able to retain steering wheel functionality. i read somewhere one company makes an adaptor. i'll willing to bet that you'll lose the cd changer though.

Some had asked for me to let them know when I was ready to sell the Nav unit and changer.

They are for sale now.

You can see the classifieds post for them here:
