i guess the c55 stock rims offsets are F25 , R30 , looks like barbus 30/35 fit.

not sure anyone finds out whether clk63's 18" stock rims will fit the c55 as well?

Alright, now I know this is an old thread and it's the AMG forum whereas I have a C320. But, I though it better to ressurect this one than start a new thread.

What do you guys think about upgrading to just 17 inchers from 16s? It seems to be that 17 are a LOT cheaper for the rims and the tires than 18s, so I have to ask if that extra inch is really worth it.

i think its worth it. i went from 17" to 18" and im much happier.

True... but since even 17 will be an upgrade for me, I'm not sure how much an additional inch would be. What are the pros and cons of that extra inch to 18?

Con: Weight, more likely to bend, more expensive wheels, more expensive tires, fewer tire choices, fender gap looks bigger.

Basically, it comes down to how much the appearance matters to you. In truth, ALL wheels/tires look good on a lowered car.

I wouldn't bother going with bigger wheels if the car wasn't lowered.

As the wheels are getting larger and wider, they will be coming out closer to the fenders. As a result, the clearance will look obviously 'bigger' and the brake rotors will look smaller. Drop the car is easy, change the brakes to big Brembo is fortune. So better choose multispoke rims to hide the hardware if not intending to upgrade to large brakes.

lowering the car has nothing to do with if you are going to bend your rims or not. Hit any big pothole it's the same story.

easier explaination would be because the rim is larger and the sidewall is now thinner and visually you will see that the fender gap between the tire and the fender is "BIGGER" even tho in reality it's not.

Sorry, that was two independent statements. I'm definitely not lowering the car AND I'm also very concerned about bending my rims.

Okay, cool. I may pick up a set of 17 AT Italias for reasonably cheap. Then, I could put nicer ones on it a in a few years when I have my degrees.

19s look a tad big on the 203s IMO. Except Ling, don't know how he pulled it off, but those LMs look perfect on there.

I actually like my 16s, extremely subtle wheels. Good for that sleeper effect, though I have no power. lol

it should be
F 18", 7.5 Offset 37, PS/2 225/40
R 18", 8.5 Offset 30, PS/2 255/35
not:-

Front offset is 30ET. Not positive about the rears, but I thought they were 35ET.

19s are too big on the C due to the little wheel arches. stock c32 17s look good, as do C55's 18s. If I had your concerns i'd try and get hold of a set of C32 wheels.

I think the stepped lip on the LM's makes it lose about an inch of face area thus making them look smaller than they actually are.

I also have 19" bremmas with Toyo T1R's on my C55 - I think the ride has improved a little, and the performance has slightly dropped off, but its hardly noticeable to me, and certainly not to any passengers. Depending on the offset, I think you might have to roll fenders on the C32 (I didn't need to on my C55.) Good luck! But I think you will love the look of the 19's, I LOVE the way my car looks with them.

nah, i have 19" TSW Thruxton's on my C32 with it lowered on H&R Springs, no issues...

I highly recommend you make the jump to 19's. The 18's would look great as well but if you are going to spend the money on aftermarket wheels, might as well get something that will really set your car apart. In fact you can get 19's that are lighter than your stock 18's.
