Ouch!!! I don't let my woman drive my car for that very reason. To replace the front bumber with the stock one and painting will probably cost you like $1500-$2500. If it just needs to be repainted it will be anywhere from $300-$700 I believe. I would keep it stock or maybe think about the CLK63 front bumper.

Yup that's the one. From what people have told me it will just bolt on without mods, though no one I believe has tried this yet, so there is still some uncertainty. This is something I've been toying with too. Anyone up to be a guinea pig?

what do you think they approximate cost for that bumper would be? also it might be hard to find that bumper since the clk 63 was just released. i remember it took a while to get the new clk grills after they updated them.

The CLK63 bumper will fit a C-55 the front end of a C55 is taken from a CLK63 so that bumper will fit your car. so the benz dealer tell me

I think a trip to a body shop (that works on MB of course) with a VIN of a CLK63 so they know what parts to order could get the job done. The only thing I'm unsure of is if the VIN makes a diference in ordering the bumper, because if you need a bumper that has the openings for the headlamp washers that come with the lighting package option. This is because the front bumper for the CLK63 can come several different ways. It can come with parktronic sensors or no sensors or head light washers or no washers or a combination of them both. All this leads to a different sytle bumper, which I believe in turn leads to a different part number, which in turn might require a VIN to a CLK63 that has such equipped options if needed on your C55.

The CLK63 bumper with fog lights I believe would be between $1200 to $1800 at a boby shop unpainted. My guess is the whole job with painting and installation would be between $2000-$2500 maybe even a little more after tax. However, if a forum sponsor could get all the parts needed and wanted to setup a group buy and if there were enough people interested in actually buy it for their C55, CLK55 or general CLK I think the price would come way down.

man this bumper thing is driving me crazy. So i am getting repaired at authorized MB body shop in san carlos, ca and they ordered the bumper twice , each time giving the vin number and the bumper received won't fit. They agaian ordered the 3rd time. Is MB inventory really so messed up??? I am really getting frustated now. Is it the bodyshop fault or MB is really screwing us C55ers. I'd hate not be be able to get parts for our car specifically when we paid so many $$$ for it..

I've never seen anything like that happen. I would say your body shop messed up. They probably did not even go with your VIN and just tried a regular C-class bumper.
