C32 More Speed

Hi All,

I raced my buddy's 3.2L NSX with my C32 last weekend and lost. He edged me by 1/2 car length between my front and his rear bumper up to 90mph plus. It's was close, and I want to know if there is anything I can do to even the race or beat him. I remember reading about using higher octane/ booster and reseting the car (disconnect battery) for more power. I am not interested in major mods just to beat him. Any suggestions?

Work on your launch. You should be able to pull more than a half car-length out of that, I would think - unless you're already an awesome launcher. Less gas in the tank, race him in the morning when it's cold, certainly try the so-called ECU reset just to help with launches and feathering the more linear throttle for your launch.

Past that, try a chip - that's not a major mod.

green filters and no resonator... about $150 buck total

search for the reset procedure

check your tire pressure

and shell 91 with octane booster

The NSX has a greater top speed, much you should be able to be ahead after 100.

However his weight and gearing advantage will eventually beat you. (IF he is stock)

If he is not stock... just hope he does have a Comptech supercharger or headers.

Stock vs Stock is a drivers race.

challenge him from a roll...and if that doesn't work remove the resonator and get higher flow airfilter.

NSXs' are quick off the line.

btw, av2, is ur car still stock? or do you have the LMs?

Thanks for the suggestions. I just went and bought one of those octane boosters. The car felt smoother, or maybe it's just me. Before, my car hesitates when my foot is on the brake going 1-4mph. Now, it seems to be gone. I will disconnect the battery tonight and race him again this weekend.

Hi Frank, I've always kept my car stock. LMs...that was Charlie or Peter. Not sure if they still have their C32.

My friend's NSX is bone stock, but he is a very good driver. Yeah, the previous two races were from 5mph rolls. The cars were dead even until I hit 45-50 mph plus. Then his car started to pull away slowly.

the outcome sounds correct. NSX traps maybe 1mph faster than the C32. Take the resonator off and you should be very even with him.

Might as well remove the rear cats at the same time

What year NSX are you racing?

I'm guessing then my C55 should be able to take it then. Can someone who has raced one in a 55 chime in.

I wouldn't disconnect the battery it can lead to all sorts of odd behavior/problems, the throttle rest instructions are posted in various threads, if I remember correctly:
1) Insert key
2) Turn to position 2 (the last one before start)
3) Press throttle to the floor & hold for 5 secs
4) Turn key to position 0 without releasing the throttle
5) Release throttle
This should reset the ECU.
