The other night I was going towards Westwood on Sunset Blvd. and I saw some dude in a white SL500 badged SL55 with the AMG and V8 Kompressor badges and everything. He came up fast behind me and I was uninterested until I saw the fake badging. I followed him for a while as he cruised with the top down and his chick in the passenger seat. He kept trying to speed off but I just paced him staring out of my window laughing. Eventually we came up to a short light and I had just enough time to pump my fist out the window and yell "V8 Kompressor! Woo hoooo!!" and laugh before I sped off. The chick looked at him with a wierd expression and he turned to her and said something but I have no idea what. Probably something to the extent of, "This is the SPECIAL edition, he has no idea what he's talking about."

Kind of a jackass thing to do on my part but come on, you're only lying to yourself when you do something that stupid...

What about it gave it away that it was not a SL55?

That's funny. Funny thing is when I picked up my C230 sport from the dealer, they had suggested for me to buy the AMG badges and stick it onto my car... they had told me a lot of their customers do that to look like the C32's.... What kind of sales rep does that??!?!!? Funny... hahaha

Doing the opposite would be to put C230 badges on your car. Now you can fool everyone on the road.

To prevent people with "hot" cars and fast badges from bugging me on the road I debagged my car completely. Only those who know will know.

dealership guys don't know anything. went to free car-wash and the dude asked me what my car was...told him C32 and he replied "C320 right?" and put it down as C320. I didn't bother to correct him. Couple time even the service consultant asked me if it was a C55.

i saw the ultimate today, a 97 body 7 series with an //M7 badge...we should all sell our cars and go pick that up haha, when bmw actually produces such a thing.

I'll just replace my C55 badge with a M3 badge or even better just take the C off and add the M and make it a M55 AMG plus I'll take off my MB star badge and put a BMW badge in its place. It will be sick

nice wheels on the car. I never even notice the series until you mentioned it. Not sure why it bothers so many people, I could care less.

Checkout this one. I spotted this beauty at the Westfield Century City Shopping Center. Its to bad I was in my 4.8is I would have loved to park my C55 right next to it.

I saw another good one last night.

I was in my E420 and rolled up behind a C230 or a C320 ... I couldn't really tell but he had the C55 and AMG badging on the trunk and they were placed on correctly. It was a dark blue W203 which looked lowered and had wheels. So I'm thinking ... let's try to run this guy then... LOL So I get behind him the light turns green and I jump from behind him but nothing ... He actually drives grandma status for like over a mile. UNDER the speed limit. I'm like lame .... then me makes a right at a light ... totally whack I was expecting some more fun. LOL

lol why do ppl have to resort to such a thing?, its like wearing a fake rolex and saying you paid 10k for it. its one thing if it actually looks like the real car lol, but any enthusiast knows the difference between a c230/32/55. if i ever did that and got called out on it, id feel like a straight idiot lol. so who ever does this, be prepared to feel like a straight idiot some day. especially if your car ends up on this thread

I'd love to be at the service department when one of these *** clowns brings in their car. "Sir is this a C55 with the V-8?" "Uh...no it's a C230 super sport 4 cylinder"
