I am sick and tired of the outdated MB command systems. Hasn't this thing been around since 2003? When are they going to get with the times and be more like Lexus, Acura, BMW and Audi. Their systems blow the MB unit away any day.
I'm new car shopping and I just can't bring myself to get a Mercedes due to their insufficient Navigation/Command system.
If anyone has heard something, please post here as I'm willing to wait a while for the right car.
EDIT - Or are they going to bring the new S-Class system down the line? I'm not in the market for a full size sedan like the S-Class...
Thanks!

I'd assume the new COMAND will come with the new C, the W204, in '08.
Having driven, often, in an Acura with voice activated NAV, I am under-whelmed. My '02, CD based system works great enough for me to still enjoy the experience of the AMG. Does the NAV system make the car these days?

Correct, starting with new models - W204, W212 and so on.

Funny.. I wanted to make sure I got NAV when I was shopping for my C32.. So I have the NAV but I think I have only used it for directions twice in over a year.. oh well.. it looks nice.. lol

I agree, the cd based COMMAND is really outdated. After riding in an Acura and a Lexus, I decided I need to do something. I was considering doing the huge conversion to a 2005+ DVD COMMAND, but it isn't worth it. I just picked up one of these (2004 US Spec COMMAND on the left)

Hows that Pioneer working out for you? I'm assuming you lost your steering wheel controls? Does Mercedes have any service functions they need to access through the COMAND system?
I'm coming from an '01 Acura CLS and the navi system on that was light years ahead of the MB COMAND...that was almost a deal breaker for me :o

Also funny...I was not nessesarily looking for a NAV when I bought mine. When I sat in it for the 1st time I was pleased to see it had it. I have ended up using is about 50-60% of the time I'm in the car now. I'm a Realtor so it is my lifeline to competentcy.
