R&D Update #3
I finally had a chance to play with our C32. First I wanted to test new wheels and tires. Car is back to stock pulleys. I have noticed since putting the wheels and tires on that the car was a lot more sure footed, but less responsive. The wheels are 18x8 on the front and 18x9 in the rear. They are made by Voxx and called Forza.
www.tires.com
They are made specifically for C-class and fit without centering rings and spacers. There have been no tire rub, even over railroad tracks. Front wheel clear the calipers with room to spare. On my silver C32 they look great, as spoke profile also matches rear tail lights. I will post pictures shortly. I also have a set of SSR GT3 in 19x9 and 19x10 on order for future testing.
Tires are F225/40ZR18, R255/35Z518 Bridgestone S03s. Weight difference - wheels and tires is +9 lbs. (45 vs. 54) on the front and +13 lbs. (46 vs. 59 lbs.) at the rear. On the dyno I am down to 274HP, a 9HP loss. Everything else is the same. The TQ curve is also down 7- 8 ft.lbs. throughout the RPM range. I hate to admit it but my "buttdyno" is still working. So, it appears that for every additional pound of wheel/tire weight there is about 0.7HP loss. BTW this was the same rule of thumb we determined during a test for Sport Compact Car magazine article a number of years ago.
Looking through other C32 dynos that we have done over the last year, one car stands out. It made 270HP and had a set of 19'' BRABUS replicas, that according to the owner were "heavy as sh?t". So, if you are tempted by those shiny new set of wheels, put them on the scale. Now you know how much HP they are going to cost you.
On the brighter note, I had a chance to play with intercooler cooling circuit. First thing we did was to disconnect a tube coming out of intercooler and route it into 5 gallon bucket. After turning the engine on and letting the pump empty out the circuit, we now knew how much capacity it had. How about 1 liter (1 quart). That was it. This is what intercooler, radiator and the lines hold. That is way too little and did not make much sense at a time.
So we filled a bucket with two gallons of water, added some ice and let the pump draw out of the bucket into IC radiator, thru intercooler and back into the bucket. The IAT was now in low 90s when we ran another test on the dyno. As the car went from 1st to 2nd, all of the sudden I started to see coolant (it's blue) showing up in the bucket and the level rising up dramatically, the IAT went back up into 140s and we peaked at 273HP in the 4th gear. OK what happened? It appears that IC cooling circuit is tied into cooling system not only through a bleed hose (we pinched it close for the test), but also through another hose that disappears into the front bumper. We are going to take the bumper off to further investigate.
The HP curve was 15-20HP higher until the middle of the second gear, that's when coolant entered the circuit. In the matter of fact HP curve almost matched the curve for ODPS in the same gear. So the results look promising. Next time we will try to completely isolate IC cooling circuit and see what happens with iced water and how much additional capacity the system will need.
Looking over this data, it now makes perfect sense why C32s are so touchy to outside temp. With intercooler being "warmed" by engine cooling system, no wonder the power goes down with high outside temperatures.

That was what I was going to do. Just going to add a tank and take the overflow out of the loop. But I never would have guessed that you would have only drained about a liter.
Looks to be a good area for improvement!

vadim, are you going to wait to release the pulley at the same time as the intercooler upgrade or are you going to sell the pulley first?
just curious.

ODPS will come with IC upgrades. One thing I did not like were elavated IAT with more boost. CA 91 octane is simply not up to it.
Basically, it is going to be Stage I. Stage II will have a new intake manifold, twin ait boxes and shorty headers. Stage III will come with a new catback, cams and probably software upgrade. Intake manifold and headers are going to be prototyped next week. I will post some pixs.

AMGgood: You are going to have to prove you are Jewish ;-) Just kidding. Like Mach430 posted they are on intro special of $549.
Roozy: No problem, if you are not happy with the sway bars we will take them back.

Roozy: So far I have tried two German companies that claim 20+ HP gains for ECU gains on my C32. Neither one made any difference in power. One had more part-throttle timing and felt a bit quicker, but no WOT gains. The other appeared to be very close to stock on the scanner and had a nasty part-throttle stumble. So I am still looking. I will be in Germany next week.
As far as reversing, yes it can be done. First company put a socket for RAM, so it can replaced with updated one or back to stock.
IMHO, there are other ways to get more power, without opening up the DME. Stay tuned.
Accord: Auzohen wey!

Norm: Thanks, I have stock spring pads. I do not know the numbers though. My guess all US C32s are the same.
Accord: Congratulations, welcome to the family ;-)

Pretty sure stock is three DOTs
My pads were "Three DOT". From what I have read that is standard. However MBZ says that they vary the pads with the amount of options installed, that sounds hokey to me. What option would cause a height adjust? Maybe in other models, but in a C32 I don't think there is an option that would warrant an adjust.

No, mine are more sculptured and antracite in color. I love them, my partners hate them. I get a lot of compliments, but it all depends on ones taste and preference.

I'm definitely not saying it looks bad.
I just thought you might want to know, for people who might not know a lot about cars and rims will think thats a 18' replica of the Lexus/Toyota rims.
wait is that 19 or 18?
BTW do you guys carry the "V6 kompressor" badge? I'm thinking about putting that badge back onto my car. If you do how much are they? if it's not expensive i can just go down there and let you guys put it on for me.
Or should i get the AMG badge if you guys can sell me cheap...
