I'm looking for a good, independent Benz shop. Is it fair to ask a shop if they have the Benz "Star" service equipment? I know it's expensive, but I don't know if a shop can run diagnostics without it.

For an older car, Busch Foreign Motors in Herndon is excellent and very trustworthy. Very focused on Mercedes. But I'm not sure if they have the diagnostics for newer cars. But you can ask.

i gotta guy that comes out to your house and will work on your car. yes he has a diagnostic tool (not startek) and i won't let anyone else touch my mercedes. he's a mercedes and bimmer only mech.
