C55 exhaust piping size
Guys,
Do any of you know what size our exhaust piping is?
I want to do the resonator delete myself and need this info badly =)
Would the dealer know this?

This is for the C32...A friend gave me this info when I needed it for my exhaust project and it was dead on.
From the headers to the second cats, it is 2.3"
From the second cat to the y connector it is 2" (very short section, only a couple of inches long)
From the y connector to the muffler is 2.75"
This is all outside diameter but remember that the pipe size is actually metric.

From the headers to the second cats, it is 2.3"
From the second cat to the y connector it is 2" (very short section, only a couple of inches long)
From the y connector to the muffler is 2.75"
This is all outside diameter but remember that the pipe size is actually metric.

I used 2.25" SS piping from the new primary cats to the Y-pipe and 3" SS piping from the y-pipe to the Aero Resonator and to the Eisenmann, both of which are SS. If you are going to leave the factory exhaust on the car, I would not delete anything other than the resonator. I lost serious power when I gutted the exhaust and kept just the front cats on. The C32 is very picky when it comes to back pressure and it is easy to lose 20HP.
I had to had the aero resonator to bring the sound level back down and to increase back pressure. The car sounds and runs great now.

Was there a reason why you chose 2.25" pipe from the primary cats to the Y-Pipe? With that said, did you mean you have removed the secondary cats?
Also, would anyone be able to give me some knowledge? After the search, I figured piping sizes vary from 2.3"(1st Cats to 2nd Cat), 2.0"(2nd Cat to Y-Pipe), and 2.75"(Y-Pipe to Muffler)... What differences does it make when you use smaller sized pipe from 1st Cat to 2nd Cat? and what differences does it make when you use larger pipe from 2nd Cat to Muffler?
