Waranty
I had the same experience with Mercury. They gave me a good quote in January, and when I went to pull the trigger in February, I was informed that they no longer cover AMG. (I have an 03 C32 w/ 49,000 miles)
I ended up buying a 4 year/unlimited mileage policy from Great Lakes Warranty Corp. I purchased the policy through AAautowarranty.com. Cost was $2800 for the "Silver Advantage" plan and includes labor at $100/hr. Great Lakes also sells a "Titanium Advantage" plan which costs a few hundred dollars more. When you look at the silver and titanium policies side-by-side, you will find that the only real difference is the coverage level for electrical components. The Titanium plan covers more, but as I said, costs more.
I struggled long and hard before buying an aftermarket warranty. From what I have read, if you think and aftermarket warranty is going to offer the same bumper-to-bumper protection as the OEM warranty, you will be disappointed. I fully expect to be nickled and dimed in repairs for this car, and I am not worried about the occassional bill for a couple hundred bucks. What I am worried about is a major engine or tranny repair that could cost thousands of dollars. For me, the $2800 provides peace of mind that I wont have to go into my pocket for that kind of repair.
By the way, this is my first post. This is a great forum and very informative. I purchased my car 12/30/06 for $30,000. It is 100% stock. Within a couple of weeks I experienced the notorious heated seat problem, which the dealer fixed (under factory warranty) for $700 plus. They also replaced front sway bar links and a belt tensioner. It also looks like I will need new front rotors and pads soon. Any recommendations for aftermarket performance rotors and pads? (e.g., brembo, ebc, etc.)

C32 AMG
For those of you that were with Mercury before 1 Feb, they will still recognize your warranty. Have had mine in the shop for nearly 2 weeks now and was sweating bullets thinking they wouldn't cover anything but they did.
Only thing that is a bunch of crap is they won't cover anything that was a TSB. Also have a front bushing going out but there is an updated part for the suspension meaning they would need to do both, but warranty will only pay for 1 leaving me with $800 to cover the other side.

Gents, any others have luck getting a 3rd party auto warranty? The aaautowarranty.com link has no drop down menu for the C32 but does for the C36, C43 and C55's???
I stopped by my local MB dealer and spoke with the finance guy and they would not offer an extended warranty -- say's alot about MB's confidence in their own cars eh?
I had pricing from autowarrantyservices but am skeptical because they are in OH -- a little ways away from CA if there were a problem and a dispute as the contract says cause of actions are to be handled in the county of Cuyahoga.
I want to get a warranty to cover myself in the short term as well as make the car somewhat more desireable when I go to sell it.
