Delayed throttle response - a strange blirb ?

Just came back from shopping and a strange thing happened... and then went away. While driving on the highway, I noticed throttle response was very sluggish. Went to a parking lot, put the car in park and here: I press the gas pedal and nothing happens for about 2 seconds, then the car revs to the point where it should have been 1.5 sec ago. If I press all the way and release quickly, the rpm do not even go up at all. Car acted like a complete retard

So it is like the computer will register the required throttle only after 2 secs.

OK, turned the engine off and then started immediately - problem gone, response back to normal. Any idea

40k, not that much. I am suspecting an electrical glitch or noise. May not happen again, I hope.

This is kind of the exact opposite of what the spring booster does...

That happened to me one time when I was driving home from the dealer. It felt like the car went into limp mode for a few seconds, then changed its mind and caught back up. I'm not sure what caused it. It never happened again.

your compressor is not working....

that was exactly what I was feeling when my compressor would not engage.

from first at a stand still.... you fully press the depal and it would take like 2 seconds for the car to move.

I would have to shut off the car and restart to get it back.

You may need a battery? your clutch bearings are bad (easy fix) or your IC pump is out.

all are pretty much easy fixes.

Except I have a 2001 w/o a compressor... at least I don't think it's a compressor. I'm thinking it's something in the drive by wire or the throttle position sensor.

I just STFA for "throttle response" and your post came up first!

The S/C was my first thought, until I tested the delayed response while the car was in park. rpm would follow about two seconds after pedal press... I believe in Park, S/C is completely out of the picture (small exception - when you start the car in frosty morning then S/C engages for a few seconds to shake off ice build up).

Yeah, most cars turn off any sort of forced induction when in "Park." I have the problem in reverse and going forward....
